Research + Intel Semifinalist

I found out online that they gave me half-tuition… as a “University Scholar”… what does that even mean?

Daaaaaayum, intel semifinalist? are you planning on choosing BU?

I got a 10K Dean’s Scholarship, and apparently I didn’t qualify for financial aid. Which is really disappointing, considering RPI gave me a little more than half the total cost of attendance in merit/need-based aid. I didn’t think I’d end up going to BU anyways though after hearing from RPI and another school, so doesn’t matter much to me.

Congrats on the Alexander Graham Bell–I tried for that, but I had no research or anything so you’re obviously much more deserving of it. Congrats to all who got in!

Half-tution University Scholarship…
32 ACT, 33 Superscored, two subject tests 750+, weighted 4.25
AP Chem, Psych, USHistory, USGov, Spanish Lang, Spanish Lit, English Lang, English Lit, World Civ, Calc AB
Tons of ECs and Service.

EFC = 9.5k but didn’t get ANY grants and very minimal loans…
I’m considering a financial aid appeal, haha.

Also, Honors College! :D

Half-tuition University Scholars thing
31 ACT, SAT II: 770 Chem, 710US, 690 MII, UW 4.0
AP Chem 5, USH 5, taking Bio, Calc AB (my school is limited with APs)
Tons of ECs, top 7% of 450
EFC = 5.5k, got half tuition and 23k grant, and they completed the package with a work study and loans to cover all of my tuition…I’m so grateful.

National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholarship

*34 ACT, 2150 SAT (no SAT II’s)
*5’s on AP Chem, English Lang, and Spanish Lang. Currently taking AP English Lit, Spanish Lit, Calc AB, and Euro.
*Ranked 6/550, GPA 4.138/4.333 UW, from large public high school in the south suburbs of Chicago
*Also a National Merit Commended Scholar

How do I find my financial aid decision?

Deans scholar
3.8 gpa
33 act

B u m p …

I was admitted with the Boston University Grant as well as the Charles River Housing Grant totaling 16600. My total financial aid “award” is 22100, with the rest of the money coming from loans. Northeastern gave me a slightly better package.

ok so if you did not fill out the CSS profile, then is there basically no way to get any sort of grant/merit based scholarship?

McGill - No, you do not need to fill out the CSS profile to receive a merit based scholarship. You do for need based grants and other forms of financial aid.

University Scholar
GPA 3.6UW/4.0W
SAT 2190
7 APs

I was accepted with $30,500 merit aid

SAT: 2030 (750: math 640: reading 640: writing)
GPA: 3.8 (uw); 4.23 (w)
7 APs

Half-tuition University Scholars thing
SAT: 2150 SAT subject tests: Maths II 750, Lit 740
Not sure about GPA i’m an international applicant
i didn’t receive an email about the scholarship, found out in the snail mail

visual arts scholarship: $2,000/yr
…really wishing this school wasn’t so expensive. i love it, but $30,000 of scholarship/grant just isn’t enough for someone with a low EFC like me going into a major which doesn’t exactly lend itself to making money. $9k EFC and coming out of college with a BFA in Painting with > $80k of debt doesn’t sound like a good plan. hahaha.

right now, i just wish the financial aid office would look at offers of other schools in their appeals process. not doing that is BS if i’ve ever seen it, and it’s almost certainly going to be what sends me to syracuse in the fall even though BU has been my dream school forever. awesome.

I got a 30k grant and then a bunch of loans. So does that mean they gave me no merit scholarships at all? I was expecting some lol 35 ACT and 97 gpa. oh well =p
