Official Boston University Transfer Fall 2012

I am starting this because I can’t find a Boston University Transfer page for this coming fall anywhere. I have not heard back yet, besides being notified that my application is complete.

Everyone…feel free to post questions about BU admissions and once you hear let us know your decision, your grades, what school you are transferring from, what college within BU you are transferring to etc.

Lets make this a busy thread! Good luck to everyone, so anxious to hear.

I currently go to the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign and already got into American and Northeastern. I applied to the COMM school.

Once again, good luck to all.

Well, I used to go to BU, but then left and now I want to come back. I applied to CAS for their Chemistry Program. Right now I’m at SUNY Stonybrook.

Quick question, did they end up asking you to send your W2 forms, and Taxes. I was asked, and BU has been the only school I’ve applied to that has asked me this.

lalaz1000—no, they did not ask me for that information…normally schools only ask for those forms after you apply for financial aid.

If you don’t mind sharing, what are your grades, what year are you and when do you apply?

Good luck

My sister transferred away from BU and then tried to get back in a year later with very little success. She seemed to think that it was because admissions frowns on transfers. All speculation, I am sure but good luck to you lalaz1000

I was admitted to COM as a junior transfer at the beginning of this month. Accepted to Washu and NEU as well. Currently at Tulane.

Well my story is a little different from that. Haha I got into BU in the year 2009 as a freshman applicant. My SAT superscored was a 2120, and my High School GPA was uh low at that time, 3.3 GPA. But I was working a 40 hour job while high school as well as doing extra curricular activities.

After getting into BU, I received a scholarship from ENG, however I had to leave after going below the required GPA. I ended up leaving with a 2.9 GPA ****ty I know.

Year and a Half Later I’m applying again with three semesters (1 year and a summer session) with my GPA from that school being a 3.87. So hopefully I can get back in =(. If I do i’ll end up being a Junior at CAS.

UPDATE: *** I was accepted :D. But… I handed in my financial aid information late haha, so I wont find out my financial aid package until May 1st. =(

When you left BU your GPA was a 2.9? My sister’s story is exactly the same. Went to BU as a freshman, did “poorly”, transferred away and did really well, but couldn’t get back in at BU.

For one I never transferred out, I ended up withdrawing, and taking a semester off. I then took classes at Stony Brook as a non-matriculated student for the past times, so yeah the story isn’t the same lol. Anyways I just got off the phone with Financial Aid Advisers, I ended up getting in but I don’t have a package yet because I sent my financial aid info in a few days late =(.

Try calling Admissions and see if they will tell you anything.

Very cool. Congrats!

i hope you do well with aid! my problem with BU is with aid and credits. At tulane I have a 20k scholarship and BU just gave me a 10k grant. They don’t seem to want to give me many credits either which is frustrating because I’m supposed to be a jr next year and I’m ahead in credits here. I really don’t want to have to repeat my core

I received my acceptance via Applicant Link just yesterday; I submitted my application on April 1st.

Accepted as a transfer student into:
College of Arts & Sciences - Economics
College GPA: 3.32
High School GPA: 4.02
SAT: 1970
No real extracurriculars while at Loyola Marymount University for the past two years

Anyone else doing economics?

my application portal thing changed today from being complete to saying they need my spring grades. Do i just wait until this semester is over which is in about a week?

mine went to complete today as I have been waiting for an application waiver to kick in. Everything else was supplied way in advance. I hope for a quick decision.

high school gpa: not good! from 1995
junior level transfer from CC, 3.5 with a midterm report of 4.0

No ec, I am a returning student from a long stint in the workforce, I have been working 2 jobs to get through community college.

i was admitted to BU as a biology major with an emphasis in neurobiology. ill be a sophomore in the fall. im a girl from southern california, which i think helped my application in the science pool. i was admitted april 10.

college GPA: 3.56 (1st semester), 3.75 (2nd semester)
HS GPA: 3.6
tons of leadership & volunteer work
2 great recs
great essays
i also sent in a resume that went more in depth with my leadership & activities

i committed to Northeastern because BU didn’t take a lot of my credits. they only gave me 10 credits for the 1st semester, and only 1 of the classes was a core class so i would have to retake a lot of classes. i’d basically be a sophomore at a freshmen credit level. BU gave me a better scholarship (10,000/ year if i keep 3.0+ GPA) but it wasnt worth attending if id have to make up almost an entire year.

good luck to everyone still waiting!

Applicant Link is down right now!! could mean an update?? I hope so!

nope…

Does anyone know when we find out about our transfer acceptance notifications?

I got my acceptance last Friday, the 20th.

still haven’t got a decision yet… starting to become concerned. They did ask that I send financial documentation to verify that I can fund my studies. How did everyone else get their decisions (i.e by mail or email)?

did anyone apply to the School of Management?
