Those accepted,
aside from the package have you guys received any email from brown on your acceptance?

Also a brand new “race and ethnicity survey” just appeared under self-service! Can this be a good sign?

no e-mail–I think at this point we have to send back our commitment cards to get any more stuff from their end.

No email or any on-line notification, but I received the letter. The acceptance hasn’t really sunk in yet…but I sent my commitment card, which will arrive in Providence today. Hopefully, I’ll get the additional info by Friday or Monday. Perhaps when I send the deposit in, it’ll start becoming a reality. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to many good years to come.

On another note, can transfers apply for summer session?

Congrats to all those who got in! If you guys don’t mind could you maybe post your stats?

Hey,

To those who were accepted, how challenging was your college course load? I’m considering applying as a transfer next year and I’m still in the process of picking out my 3rd semester classes. Just thought I’d ask for some tips before finalizing.

Thanks, and Congrats!

lookingaround–Where do you go to school? (I saw DC on your profile as I was at GW last year). I sort of took a variety of classes 4 first semester, 5 second, mostly focusing on English, and American Studies, my expected major at Brown…

when do transfer students have to commit by?

june 1st. i’m still not sure.

For those that got into the Spring semester, what are you going to do in the Fall?

I just got in as a 2009 fall semester transfer, but I may need to “postpone” my acceptance because of my family’s financial matters(My father was just diagnosed with cancer and got a clinical surgery this week, and our family business is going down these days). We simply can’t afford the college tuitions right now, and I didn’t apply for the aid.

In that case, can I delay my acceptance and get into Brown in spring 2009? Will the admission office understand my situation and grant a postponement of transfer?

I think I’m in the same boat as you youch. I was going to call on tuesday and ask.

Oclocrat, do you think they will allow us to get into Brown in spring 2010? Do you see any relevant postings or information in Brown homepage?

Madras and Plaid–I’ll be working on a political campaign… what are you planning on?

I definitely think you can–I was on the phone last week trying to get in for fall, and they explained that there’s always some shuffling around with people who were admitted for fall wanting spring entrance and vice versa. I’d send Jim Miller and e-mail.

Jabberwocky66, that really solves much of the problem that I have right now. And yet, do they want some specified and verifiable reasons for such shuffling?

In my case, my father’s health had been critical while he was waiting for the surgery. After the treatment he seems to be getting better right now-he might need his family around him for a while though, for both physical and mental reasons. Along with my father’s illness, we’re also undergoing some financial problems these days which my mother and I positively expect will get much better by the end of this year.

Combining these two reasons, will the admissions office let me get in next spring? What I’m rather nervous of is, will my seat still be secured after one semeter, or will I be then rejected because of (potential) financial problems?

If everything is pretty ok and I can still get a seat next spring, I will call on Monday.
