Official Brown 2011 Transfer Thread

Who even says that is Brown’s e-mail? Brown’s e-mail is on a special Brown gmail thing. Not Brownwiki… PLUS Brown e-mails are of the form: “firstname_lastname@brown.edu”

Hey you guys, dumb question. When you first go to this link: https://selfservice.brown.edu/ss/twbkwbis.P_WWWLogin</a> and log in, what does it say?

Mine says:
Applicant and Student
View your application, Register, View your academic records, and Student Accounts

Did it always say this? The “and Student”, register, view your academic records, and student accounts? I guess I wasn’t paying attention before, but I’m just curious. I’m sure it’s meaningless.

I know. I said I’d stop over-analyzing. But now you guys have gotten me doing it! haha

Yea it always did say that

My has always said “application and student.”

Whoever said Brown doesn’t keep old records is wrong! In the FA section, it has a list of FA documents I sent in when I applied (and got rejected) last year as a Freshman when I pick (2010-2011).

Mine says they haven’t received the IDOC, and I guess if they haven’t checked for it by now, it’s either a rejection or I’m not getting aid… :(

I can log into all three websites and I can tell the account was created because it has my first and last name there. But, they could be using an ad-hoc system where the auxiliary accounts (myOranizations, E-mail, and the other one) are automatically created when they add a name to one central list, which would be the list everyone gets on when you apply. So, simply applying might get you on the list, which would get you the accounts and allow you to log in. So, if you were rejected, they simply can delete your name from the list and all the other accounts would be automatically deleted. There is no evidence that would incline me to think that they created all those special accounts for all of us so I’m thinking it’s the ad-hoc approach. Plus, if logging into all three means that one is accepted, then the vast majority of us on here are accepted and that is highly unlikely.

I was tempted to use some of the accounts, like the MyOrganizations one… wanted to add some that I would join once I’m there but didn’t want to mess with it before I knew for sure that I’d be there.

For those of you who applied for FA, are any of you missing the verification worksheet under the financial aid tab?

https://financialaid.brown.edu/Cmx_Content.aspx?cpId=67</a></p>

This explains the Verification Worksheet. It looks like a good sign. I think they’re awarding you aid…

Thinking about it, what Brown did was kind of mean.

1.They mail decisions (instead of email)…Snail mail, anyone?
2. They mail decisions on a Friday. There is no mail delivery on Sunday, and the admissions office is closed over the weekend.
3. They mail decisions later than any other school
4. They fail to post a single date that they will mail decisions on

=(

Yeah, I get the impression that Brown sees transfer students primarily as a way of increasing revenue.

Still, it’s nice that Brown is actually taking the time to send letters.

I’d prefer an e-mail or to check them online…

^Well, it’s possible that Brown is going to post them online. I don’t think we have any confirmation that Brown has actually mailed the letters.

An admission officer told me they won’t post online. We don’t have any confirmation of the mailing, but we can call Monday.

im confused, what are these accounts youre talking about? i only know the selflogin one that was posted above?

They haven’t received my IDOC package. I tried logging on to the IDOC website to send it through there but I think the only way my IDOC stuff gets there is if they request it. Does this mean they did not even request my IDOC package? This isn’t a good sign…

ugh. i am SO stressed. i’ve already been rejected from penn, so i’m feeling really low. (isn’t penn the “easiest” top school to transfer into?) and of course stanford. i’m praying that i get good news monday.

Cheer up museumgerm, I got rejected too! I heard they only accepted 165 out of over 2000 applicants!

^ penn’s loss i’m sure!!

and thanks. gl to both of us with brown! :)

Penn is hard to transfer into lmaoooooo…who told u it was one of the easiest. Cornell is easy to transfer into if you transfer into one of the easier colleges.

I guess everyone is gonna be calling on monday
