~1950 applications, give or take

^how do you know that?

If you use the link in post #16, the CDSs gives the exact number of applicants and acceptances for the past 7 years.

I called the admissions office and asked how many transfer applications they received. “Approximately 1950 applicants” is what they gave me.

So out of 1950, they’ll only choose 100-200 applicants?

If you looked at the CDS, you’d see that B got less than 1950 transfer applicants last year, and you’d be able to see the exact number of accepted males and females. But since people on this thread would rather deal in third hand guesstimates rather than data from the primary source, carry on.

SAT & 2 Subj. Tests/ACT Test Apr 13, 2011 Requirement fulfilled [waived]

I requested an expedited decision with a copy of my admission letter from Columbia University School of General Studies and its request for my decision in 3 weeks. I sent it last Monday, April 11th via certified-mail, but it hasn’t updated as received yet by Brown according to usps.com. So, I’m hoping it doesn’t hurt my application to request them to expedite it; I also hope they let me know in two weeks.

I’m a 4.0 student from a socal cc. Phi Theta Kappa and I’m a Primary Commissioner for a voting member of the student council. Completed the Honors Program here. I have about 70 units that will hopefully translate to 15 Brown units. I calculated them out not including summers, winters, or pre-professional courses, and it looks like it might work to 15 perfectly.

Main essay was a little over 2,000 words.
I’m a nontraditional student in that I’ve had a significant break since high school and college. So, in essay, I explain that and what I want to do with my education.

I can’t believe that this thread is so inactive. Is there a more “official” thread?

I’m so nervous. Not just about Brown, but worried I won’t get in anywhere!!

Linababe, me too. I feel like I lost a solid 4-5 weeks of this semester to transfer applications (which is, of course, reflected in my performance at my current university), and that all of it was “for nothing” – that I won’t get in anywhere, and that the only places that I “have a shot” at getting into are known for giving insufficient financial aid anyway. frustrating. but, man, I would love to go to Brown.

when do decisions come out?? anyone know?

from looking at old threads the trend seems to be that they mail out decisions on a wednesday, with phone decisions going live that friday. if that holds, i think we can expect them to start mailing either may 11 (yay! earlier!) or (goodness i hope not) may 18. this wait is killllllling me!

The wait is killing everyone! Especially if Brown is your top choice (like me!). The application status page changed for me a few days ago - the components of the application part is completely gone! It’s the final stretch, everyone!
Best of luck!

mined changed, too! must’ve been today or yesterday… to think they’ve possibly reviewed my app already and made a decision!! ahhh… too stressful.

^^

Is that what it means? If they changed ur status they read ur app and made decision?

Did anyone not have their application material change?

It probably means that they’ve started to review it. They still have a few weeks to make a decision!

That is not what that means. I called in on Friday and was told that their system was undergoing maintenance, and that everybody’s profile had changed – but that it would be changed back soon.

That’s why I said “probably” and not “definitely” ;)

was referring to museum germ.
