thanks everyone! I called tuesday morning a little after 9:30 am and left them my name and my phone number, and they called back about an hour later. i have yet to receive the paper mail.

here are my stats, hope this helps:

GPA: 3.9
SAT I: 2360
SAT II: 800 math, 780 chem and 740 french
High school GPA: prestigious school but mediocre grades (3.6ish)
Extra curriculars: a lot of community service stuff, esp teaching English to underprivileged kids in rural areas
Applied to: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia, Brown
Accepted & will be attending: Brown!

other details: international student, have been studying in the states for the past 6 years. did not apply for FA.

Congrats! It’s a matter of hours now before the mail comes… :)

Congrats and condolences to those who have heard their decisions. And good luck for those waiting for their large envelope.

I hope some of you will consider adding your data to this thread in order to help future applicants better understand the relationship (if any) between FA and admissions at B:

So finally called Brown because I was tired of waiting. I got in!

By the way, my admissions portal just changed today, and it now includes “personal information” and “financial aid” tabs even though I didn’t apply for financial aid. So if you didn’t apply for financial aid, you might be able to determine whether you got in by checking your admissions portal.

Will you able to see any information in the personal information part?

I am so happy for you, transfer2010. I have been following this blog for who knows how long, and this is my first time actually posting a comment. I applied to Brown as a transfer, and I have not heard yet about whether I got in or not. And I do not have the guts to call in (I’ll wait for the letter). The other ivies I applied to have replied and it was a no, but I really hope Brown is a yes. It is afterall my top school. Cross my fingers***

What school are you transfering from?

got the letter today - waitlisted! im actually really pleased about this in that it wasn’t a rejection. anyone know what the chances of getting off the waitlist are?

@transfers2010… congratulations!!! I do think a couple people said they could see those two tabs and then they got rejected though :(

first time posting on this website, but I haven’t gotten any letter yet (I live in the south, but I think if they sent it on Friday I would have gotten it by now–which makes me think that they sent it on Monday). Anyways, I can’t login to the Brown website anymore. I tried resetting my password and it wouldn’t let me. I think that probably means I got rejected, but I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Or if everyone can still access the login?

I can still log in and everything as it was before. I was expecting the letter today but nothing came.

I can still log in as well but no letter, as far as I know! It should be getting sent to the west coast though, which might make a difference… especially if they were sent Monday. I’m expecting rejection myself but I would just like a definite answer so I can plan accordingly haha

I keep changing my plans around so that I make it home right before 3:30 so I can check my mail. I’m just going to assume rejection since I can no longer log in, but some sort of confirmation would be nice. Good luck to everyone!

So I just got my letter in the mail and I was accepted! Yay! But for second semester! Boo! Is anyone in the same situation?

@littleredparka can you post your stats?

ok,

When I log into Brown’s website now, I have the Financial Aid tab and Student Info tab.

The Student Info tab, upon clicking, says that “Only current Brown students have access to it.”

However, on the Financial Aid side, it gives me a list of documents that I have not yet satisfied and I must satisfy these to get my “Award.”

I have still not gotten word as to whether I have been accepted or not. Can anyone care to chime in if they are getting the same, if not, different results?

Thank you

^
That is exactly what happened to me today. The personal information and financial aid tabs appeared for the first time (and I get the same error message as you). I was admitted today via phone, so I think you may be in.

@adamajl44 sure thing.

-I attend a top 15 school as ranked by U.S. News
-First semester GPA: 3.74, High school GPA: 3.99
-SAT: 2290, 3 SAT II’s above 700
-ECs: A fair amount, but nothing particularly groundbreaking.
-Recs: I had small classes with both of the professors I asked to write my recs and frequently went to talk to them outside of class.
-Other: I applied to Brown for IR because my school doesn’t have a program for it. I applied last year, but was rejected.

I’m obviously extremely grateful to have been accepted to Brown at all, but it does make things more difficult. It was a bittersweet moment opening the decision letter.

Based on the stats posted by some of the admits, I ought to be accepted because my stats are similar, if not better (sorry if it sounds condescending but it’s just stats). I applied for FA though so that might knock me down. I can’t wait for the letter… Oh and I can see all three tabs and the same message pops up as the messages mentioned above…

But, does anyone know how much of the tuition is covered by Brown’s FA award? Do they leave a lot to loans and personal payments?

^ I have similar stats to those who are accepted and didn’t apply for FA but found out I didn’t get in today (through snail mail).

^ when u log in can you see all 3 tabs and get the results aformentioned above? ie: fin aid rewards, etc. ?
