I got in, fall '11!!!

@hassaanu: That happened to my friend last year. Shocks me that Brown hadn’t contacted you earlier but I think you have a good chance of being considered at least for Spring semester. My friend was subsequently admitted for Spring '11.

P.S. I received my acceptance via carrier today!
Stats:
College GPA 3.8+
High school GPA 3.9

Recs: had 3, two neurobiology professors and 1 research mentor
Non US citizen, no FA.

I got in a few days ago. I am a Freshman/rising Sophomore and I am a special case because I was a recruited athlete. My athletics really made up for my high school grades. I am a testament to the power of the upward trend.

College GPA: 3.7
High School GPA: 2.9/ IB Diploma
ACT: 29
EC: Founder of a really cool education enrichment organization in college, National caliber competitor, Varsity athlete (college and HS), HUGE family obligations in HS.
Needed lots of FA.

I can’t wait to meet everyone!

Congrats to admitted students! Send me a PM for the link to the Brown transfer Facebook group

If we were waitlisted do we need to do anything to get on the waitlist or are we automatically put on it???

So a week passed, DAE still have not received a mail from Brown? I so wanted to call but could not because of the work area of my internship.

Accepted for spring semester and attending!

College GPA- 3.9 tier 1 liberal arts school
High School GPA- 3.9 unweighted
SAT: 2100

Good luck to everyone! I cant wait to meet all of you planning on transferring to Brown :)

Accepted for the spring!

Is anyone doing the study abroad thing in the UK in the fall?

@bwallace could you post your stats?

also what does tier 1 mean for schools? that includes the top how many?

Is the transfer waiting list unranked as that of freshman? Do we need to do anything to try to get off the waiting list? I want Brown so bad…sigh

I am spring semester admit (trying to get in in the fall), and I’m definitely thinking about taking the fall term in the UK, bwallace (mostly because as spring transfers we wouldn’t be able to study abroad otherwise). I’ve emailed them and I’m calling on Monday (I have a couple of other general questions).

College GPA 3.9+
High school (unweighted): 3.6
High School (weighted): 4.4
SAT: 2140
EC: equestrian, marine biology, outdoors club, lit mag, wrote a little for the newspaper… in high school I was editor-in-chief of the lit. mag and newspaper. I was also on model UN and involved in scouts
Recs: (had 2) my lit prof. and my humanities prof. (I’m guessing those both were really good)
Essay: my essay was a pretty nifty thing about how I felt like two people (referenced Jane Eyre the morning she plans on marrying Rochester)
No FA (sadly, I think this impacted my decision…my stats are a little low and I didn’t have a lot of ECs post high school-though I kind of blame my college for that)

waitlisted and happy to still have a shot!
does anyone know if the list is ranked?
stats:
college gpa: 3.8 unweighted, dean’s list
activities: school newspaper, a couple of clubs
recs: i’m guessing fairly strong
essay: strong

oh and sats: 2100, sat IIs: lit 740 american history 700

@pygmypuff, I am also on the waiting list, and trying to figure out if it is ranked. What do you think of our chance of getting in?

im also on the waiting list - if we call admissions, do you think they’d tell us if the list is ranked? also im not sure but my intuition tells me that financial aid probably plays a factor in admitting off the waitlist…?

@slatewater, they will tell us if it is ranked. My understanding is that, if it is ranked, your withdrawal of FA will help you. If it is not, I do not know.

i honestly have no idea what my chances are, as i was thrilled to even be waitlisted. just trying to keep a positive attitude! the letter was a little confusing though. are they letting everyone know at a uniform date in mid-june, or are they voting as spaces become available and letting each individual person know as they get let in? and i have no bright ideas as to whether the list is ranked or not

I just heard from the admission. They did not want to release the number of applicants on the waiting list, and they did not rank the waitlisted applicants.

Could somebody please post the waiting list letter? I got my result via phone, but did not get the letter yet. Thanks!

I have not recieved anything in the mail and on my login it still says, “admissions will be available mid-may.” I don’t want to place a phone call because there is nothing worse than being rejected over the phone. Is there anyone else who hasn’t recieved anything in the mail either?

@blondie13 are you international student? they sent the mail to home address instead of the mailing address
