Im on the waitlist too. wondering what’s the yield for brown this year will be. of course being a waitlister, i hope it wont be exceptionally high!

i’m not sure how many people have been waitlisted. what’s scarier to think about is the uncertainty about the number of people who are were accepted to brown who will actually matriculate! brown has said that some years no one gets off the waiting list whereas in other years, more than 50 do. aaaah i thought i would be done with cc and the admissions process by now!

Did all of you choose to stay on the waitlist? I think almost everyone who is waitlisted does, but just to make sure. The waitlist is huge, about 500 people. That’s intense, but at least we know that “even if one applicant is taken off of the waitlist, we will make sure that your application is thoroughly reviewed” (or something along the lines of that).

I was waitlisted and I’m definitely staying on it. It was my top choice. I’m on the Yale Waitlist too. I got into Harvard and Princeton, but I wasn’t too enthusiastic about either of those schools so I’m really hoping to be accepted off the waitlist at Brown.

The Board of Admission has completed its review of your application and has voted to place your name on our Waiting List. As disappointing as this decision may be for you, you should know we are impressed by your abilities and achievements and I sincerely hope that you will maintain your interest in Brown.

This year, Brown received nearly 31,000 applicants for the 1,485 positions available in the Class of 2015. We have offered admission to a small percentage of our applicants but not so many, we believe, as to make it impossible for us to admit some applicants from the Waiting List.

Details about your waiting list status can be found in our Waiting List Q and A, including instructions for reserving your space on Brown’s waiting list. If you choose to remain on Brown’s waiting list, the Board will automatically consider your application for any and every position that becomes available. If the Board votes to offer you admission from our Waiting List, you will be notified by mail; you should not, however, expect notification prior to May 15, and we will conclude our wait list process by mid-June. If at any point you wish to withdraw your application from active consideration on our Waiting List, please let us know by writing us a letter or contacting us via email at Admission_Undergraduate@brown.edu.

If you also applied to the Program in Liberal Medical Education, we regret that all of the positions in the PLME have been filled, and your Waiting List status is for admission to The College as an A.B. or Sc.B. degree candidate.

The members of the Board of Admission believe that you do have special qualities to offer to the Class of 2015, and so it is disheartening that we are unable to recognize your accomplishments more fully at this time. You may be sure that even if only one student can be selected from our Waiting List, your application will be thoroughly reviewed.

No, they just move on to the next one on the list. They understand that you have to accept admission to other colleges as you won’t find out until after the deadline and may choose to stay where you were admitted. The only concern is if you choose the spot you give up any enrollment deposit that you may have paid at the other institution.

Admissions have gotten so intense these past couple of years that I really think Ivies should ask applicants to rank all those where they apply in terms of where they most want to go. If they accepted students that way most people would get their first-choice and the yields would improve greatly too!

If it makes any of you feel better, I personally am acquainted with two people accepted to Brown Univ. who will not be attending.
(Just thought I’d say that, even though I’m not wait-listed at Brown or even a senior).

Waitlisted at four schools. Really hoping to get in to Brown. Don’t really know how to go about any of this. What do I write in a letter? Who do I send it to? Can I send in additional letters of rec?
