Your college GPA is really good and you’re focused on your major and have relevant ECs. These will be the strong points of your application. I also applied to Harvard, Yale and Stanford. Last year Dartmouth sent kids to Brown, I hope it will be similar this year.
Hey y’all any ideas when Brown traditionally releases transfer results? Early May or the last day possible?
@rainydayeveryday Based on last year’s thread, it was on May 13
I just sent in my midterm report yesterday. Am I screwed?
No you’re not! They received my midterm report on April 6th. I sent it to them through email and they accepted it. I think they finish taking materials mid-April (roughly around April 15th or so).
Do you know if it should say “received” next to Midterm Report? I sent mine weeks ago.
In the received column the date should pop up for when it was added to your applicant file I assume. Like next to mid-term report for me it says “Apr 06, 2016”
@gucci21 same
@BatWonder77 did your college send yours for you? I mailed mine in by myself so I’m wondering if it didn’t qualify or something?
@misfits2123 , I doesn’t matter. You can either send it to them yourself or hag you college do it. I think most students send it in themselves because it’s just a midterm update right? To see where you’re currently at. Last year I was trying to transfer to Brown and got wait listed then rejected. It’s my dream school man, can’t wait another month for decisions! However I am kinda feeling demoralized because I got rejected my Northwestern recently Not a good sign.
Is there any way I could fax or email my midterm report? I go to a foreign university so the timetable’s different. What would be the email address or fax number?
@jwanabust Email your mid-term report to this address: transferapp@brown.edu
@AimHighandFight Thanks a lot! Did you also submit via email?
@jwanabust Yep and they added it to my application the next day
The date status for SAT score on my application checklist just jumped from Oct 2015 to Apr 2016. Not sure what that really means…
^Same
My ACT Score jumped from OCT to April as well. In the status bar it says requirement waived because I’m a community college student. However do you think they’ll still look at my ACT Scores? I hope they do!
“Applicants applying to Brown from American community colleges, junior colleges and two-year colleges may apply without submitting the results of the SAT or the ACT. Although community college applicants may apply to Brown as transfer applicants without submitting SAT or ACT results, they fare much better in our process if they do submit the results of these tests. In a given transfer application cycle the number of transfer students admitted without either SAT or ACT results is typically three or fewer.”
And what if you have a low SAT score? I submitted my 1830 score with subject tests that were 750, 720 and 620 (Math II, Math I and Chem respectively). However my college GPA will be a 3.87 after this semester is over (math/econ majors) and I got all straight As in high school.
I got wait-listed by Brown last year when I tried to transfer. This year I think I may have stronger essays, I definitely have a more impressive array of ECs, Internships, etc. Plus I am a D1 athlete. I’m a reserve though, I barely ever play in games :’(
Idk how my recommendations are. I had 3, and I know at least 1 should be pretty good. The other two should be at least somewhat decent in my opinion. Could someone perhaps chance me? I hope the significance of my SAT is low when they look at my overall application. I feel like the 1830 really kill my chances and that is why I got rejected by all the competitive schools I applied to last year. After all, it has been 2 and a half years or so since I took the SAT.
Does anyone notice that on the self checking portal, the decision status changed? From undecided to click the button. After click the button, it says please check their website to see when it is available.
Where does it say undecided? All I see is “Admissions decisions are currently unavailable”.
