[</em>]Hook (if any): the aforementioned hardship? not sure if it counts as a hook..i just hope i didn't come across as asking for pity. at most, it's one of those "extenuating circumstances" that might have affected my grades junior year. so maybe they deferred me because adcom wanted to see how i rebounded by looking at my grades from first semester senior year?</p>

<p>[/ul]Other Factors: my resume also discussed my IB history/theory of knowledge internal assessment papers, and my extended essay. oh also, national merit scholarship semifinalist, have consistently placed in first 10 nationally/in district on national spanish exam, collegeboard AP scholar with distinction, was at summer@brown this summer for 3 weeks</p>
<p>General Comments/Congratulations/etc: wasn't really expecting to be accepted...i guess my class rank/gpa is the big red splotch on my otherwise so-so record, not sure how much i stand out. but CONGRATULATIONS!!! to everybody who made it in!!</p>
