Just opened the rejection letter up…the disappointment is high right now

That sucks. What does the letter say?

Dear William:

When we wrote you earlier of the Board’s decision to place your name on our Waiting List, we had hoped to be able to consider you for admission at a later time. The high number of commitments from accepted students, however, means that we will not be able to make any offers to waitlisted students for the Class of 2017 at Brown.

The great majority of nearly 29,000 young men and women who applied to Brown this year are clearly capable of performing very well academically and of making significant contributions to the College community in other ways. With nearly twenty candidates for every available space, the Board’s task in selecting the members of the Class of 2017 has been extremely challenging and, at times, emotional.

We want to acknowledge your accomplishments and to reiterate how much care we have taken in the admissions process to get to know all of our applicants, and how difficult and painful it therefore is to deny so many.

Although you may well be disappointed by our decision, remember that in the long run where you go to college is far less important than what you do with the opportunities you surely will have. Thank you for taking the time to prepare such a thoughtful application and thank you for your interest in Brown.

You have my best wishes for success in your college plans.

Sincerely,
James S. Miller
Dean of Admission

Well I guess it’s over guys. Looks like I’ll be exploring transfer options now :/

Oh man. No acceptances from the waitlist at all. I guess I should have expected it from the high yield.

That is the exact same letter they sent out last year

but at the very end of the thread, some people were accepted via the z-list

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/1312267-official-brown-2016-waiting-room-wait-listers-only-16.html

I guess my original theory was right after all.

Most of us will get rejections. But a lucky few will be held onto till june/july.

In hardcore denial right now.

@william95, where did you get your decision? Was the letter in the mail?

@classof20178 Someone else posted in the other wait list forum that they read their decision online.

Never mind, just saw that you already read that. I would assume it was through an e-mail; however, admissions had said that decisions would only be sent out through paper mail.

I got it in the mail

Has anyone else received a letter?

Has anyone been called?

Rejected letter came in today. Guess I’m going to Northwestern which I would of gone to anyway since they have a film program. Sad but hopefully

I am yet to receive the rejection letter.

Got my rejection. Well, it was nice getting to know you all!

I received my letter today as well. It’s too bad that the 2 colleges I committed to the waitlist for had over-enrollments of 30 and 74, respectively.

It’s a good thing that I started loving UC Berkeley so much after visiting, because honestly, I didn’t think about either waitlist between my visit and when I got the letter.

To all waitlisted => rejected applicants, try to see the best in the school which you have committed to. Get excited to start your freshman year there, because honestly, once you get started, none of your college rejections will matter.

Rejection letter came in today. Whatever.

@baylife Thanks for the positivity, and good luck to you in your future endeavors!

Are any of you internationals? I have yet to receive my rejection.

hey posterguy I’m an international and I still haven’t received any thing. There’s still hope for international students. They did mention a handful and no one got to be part of that handful. Therefore every day your chances get better.

Rejection letter received in mail with great disappointment.

@ zprofessor I have a bad feeling that we haven’t received it yet because we are further away.

Does anyone have any update? I still haven’t received a rejection letter, so I am assuming I made it to the next round…?
