Also: do y’all know which dorm I’m more likely to get a single in? I get preferential housing b/c of my scholarship.

I DON’T KNOW HOW. BUT I GOT IN.
SO HAPPY.
But probably not going to go to BU…the tuition…is CRAZY.

Accepted for Economics! Don’t think I’m going to BU though, after I found out I got into Smith college and UC Davis (which I probably am going to attend) .

Essays were pretty solid
Recommendations were great
Hooks: I don’t really have any, I’m from a poor, middle of nowhere town in California

I’m not sure how I got in and why my financial package is so high compared to others (about 60k with loans and 50k without), but I’m not complaining! I’m waiting to hear from NYU, but Boston is definitely a top contender!

Accepted to Boston SMG

Aid is not great, so it probably won’t end up being an option for me.

My “Why Boston” essay was ridiculously bad, so obviously it’s not really all that important ;)

*Congratulations! On behalf of the Board of Admissions, I’m excited to welcome you to Boston University and the Class of 2018. You have been admitted to the School of Management.

Your admission to Boston University is a tremendous accomplishment. This year, we received a record-breaking number of applications from more than 54,000 exceptional students from around the world, making this the most competitive year ever for admission to BU.

You join a diverse and ambitious group of students who rank at the top of their classes and come from more than 100 countries. Together, you will form a tight-knit, intellectual community while studying with award-winning faculty at one of the top research universities in the world. I am confident you will take full advantage of the extraordinary academic opportunities available to you at BU.*

Waitlisted to Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences Program.
28 ACT.
Accepted my place on the list but I’m sure it won’t get me very far. I honestly didn’t expect to get in based on how competitive it’s getting. My grades undoubtedly slipped last semester (I had a very demanding schedule with a lot of hard courses) and I never officially visited campus and I feel that those were definitely not beneficial for me.

Accepted to Boston CAS! I think they accepted me because of my genuine interest in the school. Rejected from Northeastern.

This debate can be become more hot. Seriously institution and university need to be more specific for admission and process.

http://www.managementparadise.com/forums/hot-debates-big-fight/

Looking at all the rejections, I think it’s fairly obvious that the applicant pool was ridiculously strong this year - I feel slightly better having been rejected. Although I’ve already committed to the University College London for law, which is even more competitive, so I guess BU figured out I wasn’t going to go…

SAT 1390/2070 (680W, 640M, 750CR)
3.79/4 uw, 4.5 w GPA
president of MUN, law intern, editor-in-chief, libertarian party rep

applied for poli-sci

Accepted into CAS!
GPA: 3.9
SAT:1990
ACT:31
Many extracurriculars, including thousands of hours of theatre, a job, NHS, Spanish honor society, etc.
12 in my class , top 3%

Does anyone know of someone actually getting off the Wait list for the BFA acting program? Is there hope?

hfeir…because it never crossed my mind that I would not receive any financial aid. At every other school I received substantial merit aid, loans and even some need based scholarships. My EFC is not even close to the cost of tuition/housing.

2320 SAT, 700+ on 5 subject tests, 4.2 GPA flat out rejected for economics??? decent essays and extracurriculars. got into UCLA. does anyone have any idea why?

@GloriousChicken
Displaying interest in the school seemed pretty common for accepted people within the supplemental essay, did you do a good job of making it look like you’d really go?

Also, you may have been viewed as overqualified and they didn’t believe you’d go to BU if you got accepted.

Or you simply didn’t fit in with how they viewed you as a person from your recommendations and essays, that’s probably the answer. Doesn’t mean you’re not good enough, just that they didn’t feel like you belonged there attitude-wise

BU strongly emphasizes interest. When my regional admissions officer visited my school, one of the first things he asked us was if we had ever visited the school. He then asked the people who had visited to tell others what they liked about the school and why they were interested in going. They also factored in interest from the “Why BU” supplement. I made sure to note my visit to the school, recall what I remembered from the tour, emphasize specifically what appealed to me (clubs, spirit, undergraduate program in Neuroscience, traditions, etc). I believe that’s why I got admitted.

@GloriousChicken
you are overqualified!

@mwahahahanna. Oh Yes!!!, First CONGRATS…Bravo!! I did get in but my quest for financial aid fell on deaf ears…Still thinking tough between BU and UBC…did you get some sushi?? you merit it!!
