Official BU Class of 2018 Regular Decision Thread

@kayla911rae me too =( goodluck

This is so nerve-racking! I can’t believe we will get our decision this Saturday, gah I’m nervous!

does anyone know at what time the decisions will be released?

@collegeapp2018

march 22nd :)

I think that he means what time of day, like do they usually release them around 4? @infinitely2014

Their email just said March 22nd, but it says you’ll get an email when it’s available

@kayla911rae
I’m not exactly sure what time, but since BU is in the east coast they’ll probably release their decisions after 12PM EST.
my bet is they’ll release it 3pm- 5pm EST
and west coast people will receive it around 12pm

although there is no confirmation

I’m so nervous… I’ve waited this long but this week is by far going to be the longest!

I’m not sure if I really even want to know…

BU received a record number of applications this year - their acceptance rate is probably going to plummet to ~29% ish.

@preamble1776 according to http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/boston-university-2130</a> BU’s acceptance rate last year was 45%…I doubt it’ll drop to 29%. My guess is about 34%

And yeah, i was talking about the specific time of the day. It’s really wierd that BU is releasing decisions on a saturday…Most colleges do it on weekdays but w/e not complaining b/c they release them earlier than all of my colleges.

BU and Northeastern are both becoming incredibly more selective rather quickly – especially in areas like the northeast where there is a very substantial core of applicants that consistently grows each year.

Way to be a debbie-downer

@collegeapp2018, I can see that happening, particularly since google lists its acceptance rate at 37% which is bad news for all of us

@collegeapp2018

many schools this year have released decisions on weekends- both saturday and sundays

but like @preamble1776 said, BU and NE are both becoming more popular and more selective with their applicants

but 6 more days guys!!

You just need to be realistic - BU isn’t the “safety” it was 30 years ago - it’s becoming incredibly selective and we all just need to be very realistic about our stats and our chances of getting in. It’ll save me a lot of grief if I don’t keep my expectations high.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. I can not come back to this thread. Yes, BU is NOT a safety school for anyone anymore. Yes, the credentials you need to get in went up in the past year or two, but they barely did. The acceptance rate dropped so dramatically because last year was the first year BU stopped requiring SAT subjects and a second essay. Therefore, you get so many people applying “just because.” You get a lot of immense scholars who applied to MIT and Harvard and just apply to BU now because the application got a lot easier. BU knows that. That’s why they emphasize on the “Why BU?” essay. You see a lot of people with really high stats get rejected because they showed absolutely no interest in the university, therefore the admissions office gives their time of day to people they know want to attend.

I have completely average stats for BU, I toured to campus and talked to someone who reviews applications and they told me that my stats would be “the type of student considered for admission.” If I get in I’ll be completely elated, but if not, it wasn’t meant to be.

I hoped I calmed some of you down. Good day.

Anyone knows if when they release the decisions on Saturday, they’re going to make the financial aid packages available as well?

@lwolfe They said they would tell you about financial aid at the same time as your decision.
