I got into the Architecture Department!

mind sharing your csu gpa and act/sat scores? My daughter is waiting to hear on Architecure. Did your status just change today? And congradulations, that is one of the toughest majors to get accepted in.

my daughter was waitlisted for architecture. I do not know if that is worse than not geting in, as it will make it real tough to make a choice if it does not change before May 1. She has a 4.29 CSU weighted gpa and 29 on the ACT, so we are disapointed since I have seen other get accepted to architecture this year with lower numbers.

robfixit… when did she find out? was it this afternoon sometime? i keep checking over and over everyday and still no determination…

I thought that the CSU schools did not ask for nor require letters of recommendation, yet I see many posts here that mention these items in the app. Can someone clarify?

You’re correct. Cal Poly SLO only looks at:
- 9th through 11th grade weighted GPA for ‘a-g’ classes (All other CSUs look at 10th-11th GPA).
- SAT Critical Reading + Math.

There are also the 4 questions at the end of the SLO application:
- Hours worked per week
- Hours per week in clubs/activities
- Did you hold any leadership positions
- Was more than 25% of your work related to your Cal Poly major of choice

Their application does not have a space for essays, letters of recommendation, nor does it have a place to list ECs or volunteer work.

robfixit:

Just FYI: last year my son was waitlisted for aerospace engineering. He had a 4.0 unweighted GPA, 4.22 weighted, had 35 on Math of ACT and composite 31 on the ACT. He was never offered admission, his name never came off the waitlist…Just so you know…

I am very skeptical someone with those stats would get waitlisted, did he have a sexual assault on his record or something? ahah

crizello, Cal Poly does NOT ask for letters of rec. Sorry, was using the template that was listed and forgot to put “N/A” or leave blank.
