Official Cal Poly Early Decision

Sweet! Thanks for your opinion! I didn’t put enough hrs in either; I actually just read on their website that you can contest admission rejection-so that makes me feel a bit better. I can’t believe some people have already received acceptance! That’s amazing…

Just submitted Uc apps. Whooo! The time is coming, haha.

Ok I think I spread a rumor. Sorry about that. I was sure I read some where that people were hearing from them since earlier this week, but maybe that was November of last year? Or maybe it is a select few? I don’t know, sorry if this isn’t true.

Just start looking out around Dec 6th or so.

ya, last year people were saying december 6th was when lots of people heard.

awwww im sooo nervous haha. my life would be soo much better if i knew i was going to slo in like 1 week. the more i research, the more i think my chances are lower than i thought haha. the waits killing me.

They even used my daughter’s 8th grade Algebra 1 grade. If you took any intense math or foreign language in 8th grade, you should report it.

QUOTE:

Did it say that in the Cal Poly application? Because I read it several times, and now I’m looking over what I printed out after I submitted the application and I don’t see it. I was looking it up and you are correct. I’m not sure what to do about that now, but I read that Cal Poly calculates your GPA themselves so it isn’t that important. I hope this doesn’t affect my chances of getting in.

Also, I just read that they base the admission off the test scores you enter, but when I submitted the application I didn’t know my test score for the ACT or the second time I took the SAT. I entered the date but not the scores since I didn’t have them. I did send both SAT and ACT to Cal Poly. I did bad on my first SAT…

My daughter also put 11-15 hours. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this until she had sent it in. I think it should be the higher number. She also said her work wasn’t related to her major. Well, she mostly has just babysat with the exception of helping at 10k races (data entry, set-up/tear-down.) Since her major is Kinesiology, it was hard to relate it to those jobs. But, I hope they won’t hold this against her.

Yeah, I did the same thing but with leadership roles. For some reason I put no. I had an entire conversation with my dad on whether I should put yes or no. I have my own dog sitting business and I was captain for soccer, those count I think. I’m confused why I put no!

In way, having a dog sitting business does kinda relate to animal science. =P

depends what engineering you are applying too

that was to vanessa

I applied to animal science. And for Nick, I did put that more than 25% of my work relates to my major, because it does!

Oh,haha,alright. That should help somewhat.

Exactly! I definitely would have said that it’s related, because it is! There’s a “science” to dog sitting, after all.

I am sure if you put the wrong amount of hours that they will notice. I am sure they overlook your transcript and it will have your community service for them to look at.

I applied to architectural engineering. 3.76 gpa weighted. 1250 sat CR+math first time. 1280 sat cr and math second time. club president. about 200 hrs of community service . DESPERATELY HOPING TO GET INTO ED!!

According to the admissions officer, the following are ranked in order of importance to being accepted:

1.) GPA
2.) test scores
3.) courses taken
4.) lastly, only 1-10% are extracurriculars.

If you think you messed up your app, and you’re denied, but depending on your major your appeal may not really do you any good. They allow people to submit changes until 2 weeks after…

mistariapotter: your gpa and sat scores seem to be on the low end… which doesnt help your cause, sorry.

but what is your best combined Sat score i mean like your best math and reading score??? thats the score they look at.

its really a shame that they dont look at extracurriculars more becuase you’re reallly on top of that.

i heard it helps sometimes if you live near the area as well.

Best wishes on getting in

TO EVERYONE:
GOOD LUCK IT’S TWO HOURS UNTIL DECEMBER!!!

o really? then i got 1300 is tht ok? OMG IM SO SCARED REALLY THO GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

Well that sat looks a lot better now. You’d probably get into any other major though. It’s just that archE is like the hardest major to get into the school. Don’t totally freak out though. Because things are different every year. And my opinion is only one persons opinion. Good luck
