OFFICIAL CAL POLY SLO 2013-2014 Early Decision

I am getting so impatient. I know we wont hear until mid Dec but I cant wait.

Do you guys know if we will find out on Dec. 15th or before??? Ive been checking the portal every day!

Applied early decision

Intended Major: Biomedical Engineering
CSU GPA: 4.20
ACT Composite 31 (Math 31, Science 31, Reading 31, English 29)
Girl’s Varsity Volleyball and manager for Boy’s Volleyball…
8 AP classes including Biology, Calculus AB and Stats

This might just disenchant you guys but I went on the tour/info session yesterday and they said that they typically release ED decisions right around Dec. 15 between the 10th and 15th so definitely not right now.

Intedned Major: Computer Science
Avg GPA 10-11: 4.05(weighted)
SAT: 2100
Volunteer: 6 hrs/week
10th: AP Euro
11th: AP physics B, AP US, AP Lang

I’m wondering if all you guys are committed to cal poly for early decision? Because some of these stats are very well in the range for good UC schoools too.

Hey guys, so I’ve been following this for a while now and have now realized that i would like someone on here to chance me.

I’m applying Computer Science.
Fresh-Junior GPA is 3.67
ACT composite is 25
Math - 29
Science - 25
English - 21
Reading - 27

Thank you!

Board4lyfe:
Your GPA and ACT scores are on the low side. How rigorous was your Soph/Junior year? Many AP’s? I think ED is a stretch.

Yeah my expectations aren’t too high at this point. But Soph/Junior year I only took AP Psychology and English 3H but then this year I’m taking Physics H, Calculus H, AP English 4, and AP Gov. plus I have a lot of community service hours and currently am captain of two varsity sports. What do you think?

GPA - 3.55
ACT - 30
SAT - 1310/1600 or 2000/2400
Major - Philosophy
11th - APUSH, AP Lang+Comp, AP Enviromental Science
12th - AP Comp Sci, AP Bio, AP Psych, AP Gov, AP Lit

Best of luck to everyone!

@board4life,
Unfortunately they don’t weigh in EC too much, it’s literally two questions at the end that just asks how Many hours a week, not specifics which is a disadvantage to many. I actually am in a very similar situation to you my fresh -junior GPA is 3.70 and my act is 27
But my course load soph-senior year is pretty rigorous.
I’m applying for software engineering.
I hope we both get accepted

Can someone chance me or give me an idea.

10th- no UC honors or AP
11th- Pre-calc honors

My 10th and 11th grade courses were rigorous but none of them counted for “UC honors” weighting. Multiple math and science courses with pretty good grades but I’m worried that they won’t care about my courses due to them not being weighted even though they were rigorous. For example, my Physics Honors class was basically AP Physics C, without the AP exam. The teachers for both classes told me personally that they were basically the same class, same material and exact same labs. Physics Honors was actually going at a faster pace then the AP class.

UC GPA for 10th and 11th grade- 3.74
currently taking AP Calculus AB and AP Physics B

ACT composite: 30
English- 31
Math- 27
Reading- 33
Science- 27
Essay- 10
combined english/writing- 30

ACT superscore- 31

I know they don’t pay attention to extracurriculars but I have them and I hold a leadership position.

What’s the major^?

Sorry left that out. Mechanical engineering. I realize my chances will be a lot slimmer because of this.

hi! i’ve been following this page for quite a while, can anyone chance me?

Software Engineering
2100 SAT score
3.6 weighted GPA
3.3 unweighted
Lots of extra-curriculuars and work experience.

Intended major : software engineering
Average GPA 4.2
11th: AP Bio, APUSH, Hon Precalc
12th: AP Psych, AP Gov, AP Econ, AP Envir, AP Calc BC,
Sat 1270/1600 (math: 720, read: 550)

When do we find out.

Previous years ED acceptance from forum as early as Dec 4/5. First acceptance via My Portal via message, followed by email, then letter from what others have said. MyPortal changes to show acceptance links, etc.

Im so nervous/excited I have been checking the portal every day.
Mechanical Engineering
4.14 GPA
32 ACT
1340 SAT (MATH + CR)
Taking AP Calc and AP Physics this year.

@cpress3 You have excellent stats, you should be admitted ED, and if not, absolutely should RD. But yeah, I second the portal thing, I really really want to get into SLO.
I guess I should upload my stats too…
Electrical Engineering
4.04 GPA
1290/1600 SAT
Taking AP Calc, Physics, Language, and a Community College PoliSci course this year. Took decent rigor throughout highschool and took preparatory engineering classes 9-12 with my school’s engineering academy. I think I have…a decent chance.
