Do you have the projection for Biomedical engineering early decision?

@Ooscalpoly No but the projection is 11%

does anyone know the projections for food science major? thanks!

@claireb 79%

For anyone interested here’s the link to the projections

http://ir.calpoly.edu/sites/ir.wcms.calpoly.edu/files/publications_reports/targets/1415tarproj.pdf

How to calculate projected acceptance rate for new freshman:
- Locate major
- Take the # under FTF Target and multiply by 3
- Take answer from step 2 and divide by the # under FTF Apps
- Take answer from step 3 and multiply by 100 to get percentage

@will187651 Why multiply the FTF number by 3?
thanks,

oh…yield is likely the answer… Given the yield on ED is much higher, and I think they only set aside a small amount of the slots for ED, I’m guessing the ED applicants are competing for about 10% of the FTF target for each major.

Architecture

SAT out of 1600
Math: 690 Reading: 610

ACT: 30

1-5 hours of working related to my major
21+ hours of EC w/ Leadership experience

OOS (Virginia)

2 Questions:
- I put my high school’s GPA on my application because I am out of state…is that okay? CSU GPA calculator specifically states that it is not an “official GPA”
- How much worse are my chances because I am out of state??

Thank you and good luck to all (:

@fergie96 1. Cal Poly doesn’t even take into account your self-reported GPA, they just recalculate it anyways for their records because so many people do it wrong or make a mistake! So don’t worry about it at all.
2. OOS applicants typically have a better chance at ED because SLO is a state school and they need the extra revenue from OOS applicants that are legally bound to attend!! But, I think your stats are pretty good so don’t worry I think you have a really good chance at being admitted.

Did you apply to SLO because it was number 1 for the architecture rankings in 2014? (They’re number 2 now behind Cornell for the newly released 2015 rankings u_u)

Here are the new Design Intelligence rankings for 2015 for those that didn’t know a new one was released recently: <a href=“And the Best US Architecture Schools for 2015 Are… | ArchDaily”>http://www.archdaily.com/563673/and-the-best-us-architecture-schools-for-2015-are/

For anyone – do you think there is going to be a lot of competition for people wanting to go into the architecture or architectural engineering major because of the design intelligence ranking for 2014? They were always around the top for rankings but is being number one this past year going to affect the pool of applicants for Fall 2015? That’s something I’m scared of.

Anyways good luck!!

GTG97: Don’t think so- As you say CPSLO has been in the top 5 for many years in various arch. school ratings. CPSLO was just relishing being #1 ahead of the biggies of Cornell, Rice, etc. for a change and it has been a great marketing tool for CPSLO this year. Though this rating probably put CPSLO on the radar for some applicants, I think final decisions to actually apply are largely based on location, price, an then secondarily reputation, and post graduating employability, as well as a student’s match with the required stats to get in. (Sure you have heard CP referred to as the “Harvard of the west”.). Architecture is competitive but then that is true of most majors at CPSLO. If CPSLO is your top choice then your decision to apply ED is your best strategy.

@will187651 - thanks for the link to the projections - that was very interesting!

My D applied ED to BMED.
ACT 32

Fingers crossed…
