****official cal poly slo class of 2018 decisions****

@bindra1996 OOS from Virginia.
@justin7473 your stats look great, i’m sure you’ll get in! Good luck! :)

Does Cal Poly send the acceptance to the e-mail you used to sign up for applications? Or do you have to log into the Cal Poly website to find out?

Does anyone else feel like this has been the longest/ most stressful week of their life? XD

D is super anxious to find out if she got into the math program, especially now that the OOS decisions have started to come out. Really, really hoping CA kids find out on Tuesday. Congrats to all on their acceptances and good luck to all the locals who are still waiting!

@civilmechanical
you have to log into the cal poly website and check in the “application status” section. You receive an acceptance email a day or so after you’ve been accepted with a quaint little video.

Thanks a lot , Cal poly Pomona is my number two and I got accepted into Prescott ,chose it becauseit is closer to home .I am from California and chose CSU’s over UC’s because i want hands on learning not research based learning.

@OsakaDad Hello, I’ve read some of your posts regarding your son in the past, and I’m kind of in the same situation he was in. I was just unexpectedly accepted as a civil engineering major at SLO, yet I’ve kind of had my heart set on CPP (I was invited to and will probably be accepted into the Kellogg honors college). Though I’m actually from Texas, so I’m not able to really get any opinions about these schools besides reading on these message boards (which are usually biased for SLO). But I wanted to know, is CPP’s reputation as for engineering as good as people on here say in the LA/OC area (I would like to find a CE job in this area after graduating)? It always seems like people love CPP, or hate CPP (while everyone seems to love SLO). As much as I loved the campus and proximity to LA that CPP has to offer, I somehow can’t get over the draw of the bigger prestige of SLO. Any thoughts or opinions? I know that you listed some stuff about Aero Eng… but I guess I’m also wondering if civil would be any different. Thanks!

BioMed Eng. Instate no decision yet

Do you think that cal poly will be harder, easier, or neutral in accepting instate students, like would an instate student have a harder our easier time at getting in compared to an out of state student? Any thoughts?

I am in the same boat @nomie1 . I’m getting a little nervous. Have you heard the general stats for BMEs? Saw a few others posted on here but I’m still trying to figure out the range. And what are your stats?

@jnmaietta - Dont know general stats.
GPA 3.7 ACT = 28. 5 AP classes 2 with college credit. SLO coach flagged app as a student athlete. EC includes seasonal work, lots of volunteer and competitive athlete. Praying for SLO acceptance. Was accepted to Colorado School of Mines and toured that campus last week - amazing!! Good Luck!!

Does anyone know how friendly Cal Poly is to international applicants? I mean in terms of acceptances. I’ve asked this once… Please do help! :-/

Btw, congrats @civilmechanical

any in state yet?

@ Justin, nothing happening in my son’s portal…
I think tomorrow is the big day! I’m sure there will be posts like crazy, stay tuned!

@justin7473 they should be easier to instates!

for OOS applicants, what time did you check your cp portal and found out?

minicooper, I checked when I woke up around 9am and it still said no determination has been made. Checked again around 4pm and I had been admitted. I live in KS so the times are CST (I believe two hours ahead of California).

@justin7473 - imo i think it would be slightly harder for instate students to get accepted becuase cal poly would like more OOS students for their extra fees. but there are so many more instate students who get accepted that it doesn’t really change the difficulty level that much

@jnmaietta - i do know that biomed engineering is one of the hardest engineering majors to get in at cal poly slo along with mechanical and computer engineering

@nomie1 Ok cool thanks. Good luck to you as well!
@tigerash Ya… That’s what I’m afraid of. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens.
