Still waiting on MechE.

I’ve been checking it every hour now and I’m going crazy.

I’m really hoping college of business is next!

Does cal poly use an algorithm to accept or do they do a holistic approach? Curious because someone out of state for in with lower stats and course rigor and if it is an algorithm, doesn’t that mean i am guaranteed admission? They are in the same major

cal poly deserves the worst admission procedure of any college award.

algorithm but it works in a strange way. many ppl with high stats can get rejected/waitlisted while lower stats have gotten in.

@justin7473, they use an algorithm to accept students. it’s strictly based on the number of points you get for your grades, test scores, and rigor

Any in state Kinesiology majors get accepted yet?

Seriously, for a tech school especially, this is the least technically elegant decision announcement process imaginable. I have sent out 2,000,000 emails in 4 hours. They could do 51,000 in a day.

I believe they look at the rigor of your school, so a GPA from one high school is not treated the same as one from another, which makes comparing with someone else from a different school very difficult (and I am sure it would be meaningless to compare between out of state and in state students).

@halcyoncxd96 I agree worst…or lets just be blunt and say STUPID. Its got to be frustrating for all you students (Dad here). Just release it all at once like most normal schools.

Have any in-state transfers for Journalism been accepted yet?

I think the problem is that it is a tech school run by engineers. I know a lot of engineers, and many of them are a bit clueless when it comes to the “human interface.” Cal Poly not only lacks the human touch when it comes to admissions, but this is a school that requires all applicants to choose a major when most high school seniors have no idea what they want to do with their lives. How many other schools require everyone to choose a major?

Cal Poly has a 2-tier admission system, as explained in this 2010 article: http://calcoastnews.com/2010/11/cal-poly-courting-out-of-state-students/

In-state students compete with in-state students and out-of-state students compete with other out-of-state students.

@socaldad2 - Amen - and - I am an engineer… :-)

I agree with SoCalDad2…

Agreed! And at the rate this is going, we may have to apply for housing at both Chico and Cal Poly just to hold a spot.

We’ve already done housing at one other CSU and are about to do so at one more plus a UC, The housing fees are refundable ($300) but the “acceptance” fee is $100 sunk cost. At least those are the CSU rates we’ve seen so far.

@keseykat that is an interesting article, it makes me sad. I read many of the comments posted, and have to agree. The CSU’s should be educating California kids, just as other state schools should make their in state kids their priority. I find it refreshing, and disturbing that they freely talk to the point of taking more out of state kids to bring in more money. Especially because out of state students pay the in state prices after 1 year or is it less?? My tax dollars support the CSU system, and I feel like our in state kids should have priority with admission & notifications!!

Still waiting in SoCal. Computer engineering

4.09, 30ACT because I guess that’s all the CSUs want.

Accepted at: Purdue, SMU, Pomona(CP), SDSU, ASU, and Minnesota…All for engineering.

It would appear the engineering department isn’t going to be today if they haven’t started sending out those acceptances yet. That’s unfortunate.
