****official cal poly slo class of 2018 decisions****

Got accepted for Microbiology!

D was accepted as a Math major sometime between 2:00 and 2:50 today!

4.0 UW, 4.3 CSU, 4.65 W
33 ACT (35 on Math and Science)
5 AP classes 10-11 (2 3s on test, 3 5s), 6 more senior year
In state

So, so excited for her!

I just got off the phone with admissions. The woman I spoke to said they are not rolling out by major, that it is based on each applicant. So for RPTA some out yesterday, maybe today and maybe tomorrow and so on for the next several weeks! She said they hope to notify everyone by April 1 ! I asked about the housing application and what date housing opens, she said that as each student accepts admission they will be eligible to apply for housing
When I asked about the students who may not get accepted until next month or later, she said, " yeah, that is harder, they may or may not get their 1st, 2nd choice of housing."
So heads up to those who have been accepted and know CP is it, accept and get your housing app in asap!

Did she say any general time for when engineering decisions will start rolling out? Several of my architecture friends have already heard but I’ve heard nothing with engineering besides one or two maybe?

@Jnmaietta, no she did not give me anything specific. Hang in there! Seems like this is going to go on for weeks.

Thanks joyful1. My daughter’s friend just got accepted for Ag Business, which also had acceptances go out yesterday. It really is a toss of the dice on who will hear what on which day! LOL

I was just accepted as a History major!

GPA: 3.9 UW 4.5 W
SAT: 2010
ACT: 31

WHY NO ENGINEERING!!! COME ON!!!

In state transfer student- Still waiting.
MAJOR: Journalism
GPA: 4.0
IGETC and General Ed completed

Missing 1 major prep class since my JC does not offer ANY journalism classes and neither do ANY surrounding colleges
quite frustrating. My counselor told me this would not affect me but after doing my own research I think it may. Does anyone know how much this should affect the admission process? I have heard that some people still get accepted even when missing just 1 major prep class, so I guess I will see. An admissions rep from Cal Poly that I spoke to about a month ago told me that this could bring my chances down slightly, but won’t diminish them. Im staying hopeful!

Also, does anyone know how impacted the Journalism department is?

Good luck to everyone!!

I find it really irritating that they’re giving some applicants an unfair advantage of having preferred housing by notifying some students before others. I, for one, feel like I need to accept the offer and put the housing deposit down the second I hear back for business >:I

Same, it really shouldn’t be like this. i know for sure thats what im going to do even though there are other colleges i’m equally as interested in.

BioMed Eng - nothing today

D was accepted today (prior post) and forgot to mention she applied ED and was rolled to RD. So Cal.

@Jackechan Don’t stress out over housing applications. The application won’t be made available until sometime in March when nearly everyone being accepted has been notified. On the “calendar” section of the CP Housing page it says this regarding RD freshman housing applications.

"March (dates to be determined) Fall 2014 Regular Decision Freshman, Transfer and International students who have accepted their offer of admission can apply for Fall 2014 Housing online through their Cal Poly portal account (my.calpoly.edu), select the “Housing” tab and then select “Housing Application System.” "

Are other colleges this disorganized with the admissions process?

cal poly is special

I got into kinesiology sometime within the last 2 hours. Instate.

Looks like engineering will be tomorrow?

This year is similar to last year (at SLO). Lots of complaints about the admissions rolling out over a several-week period, and there was a bit of a “housing panic”, with some accepting admissions in order to accept housing (and later cancelling after being accepted elsewhere).

And other CSU’s have there disorganization, too. My D applied to Sonoma State last year and didn’t receive her acceptance until the end of the first week in April (while acceptances rolled out from December on)
and housing applications were accepted beginning in December. SFSU accepts housing applications as soon as you put in your application (no need to wait for acceptance). I’m sure other CSU’s have their own weirdness.

dont expect tomorrow, this process will last 1-2 weeks.
