@tintinucd You look fairly solid in my opinion. Those extra math classes should give you some additional points. Your GPA is definitely low, but your total act is good, if you got As in the math classes that should help too. Good luck, I will say I think the COSAM is outstanding as is the math department. The chair is a wonderful man, and I have met many other professors and staff. They are truly dedicated to their students, and for my son the 4+1 Master’s degree was the way to go.

@czs1994 Thanks for the chance! Made me feel a bit better! I’m just going to wait now and hope for the best

I just got accepted to Civil Engineering 4.38 GPA weighted 3.8 unweighted 30 ACT 1980 SAT

did they e-mail or do you check and see?

At 8:00 PM, I received a text message and email from Cal Poly about the acceptance. The odd thing is the actually decision was live on the site around 9:00 AM today.
So, I guess one can’t just keep checking their texts or emails, instead keep F5-ing the student portal.
Best wishes to all of you here!

i received a text and an email the day after my decision was released on the portal. i got the text message like a couple hours ago actually…

@czs1994 You’re right that jump in students looked big. So not a good job in my calcs at all. Revising my predictions down to a lower number of admits and %. I was looking for encouraging news over the weekend. Good luck to all next week.

@randomlunchbox, what was your cr+m?

@czs1994 I have taken 6 years of math and 3 years of science in high school. Do you think that will help significantly?

@bindra1996 yes, it will help assuming the additional classes are higher than what they require, which they most likely are. Can give you up to an additional 500 points. Other helps are the typical first to go to college, either or both parent didn’t go to college, and coming from a low performing school.

How are they releasing them?i can’t find a correlation other than significantly high gpa, and even that isn’t always the case from what i have seen. Is it just random?

SLOMom2014 posted this link http://www.act.org/epc/ppt/EPC%202013%20F1.2%20Maraviglia%20Amos.pdf back in January under a thread entitled “An Interesting Read On The Admittance Process” and I found it to be very helpful in understanding how applicants are “scored” for admission at Cal Poly.

Are they giving out rejections also? No one here has posted about rejections!

@LivingInThe916 I feel your pain… I think they go out last also- even if there are rejections, I doubt they would post them :/
