****official cal poly slo class of 2018 decisions****

I think it’s just rumor on this site that Cal Poly is done with acceptances this Friday. In the past they go all the way through March and continue admitting people. Can someone provide anything concrete that Friday is final day, if not, I wouldn’t worry yet.

^THANK YOU! @texasbound I really really really hope you’re right…

@santacruz1 - did your D get accepted to San Diego State or UC San Diego?

@nutthins it has to be SDSU because UCSD decisions don’t come out until march 12

Have not seen many in state ME majors accepted? My son’s stats:

GPA - UW 3.82
W 4.00
ACT 33

Sat 2200 (Math 750, CR 690)
Math lev 2 800

AP Calc 5

Varsity Football, Wrestling
Calif. Student

Anyone know if he has a chance for Mech Eng?

^^^I can only speak for last year. S had similar stats…32 ACT but 4.2 GPA and 4 or 5 AP classes with scores of 4 or 5. He was not accepted. ME and Arch are the most competitive majors.

If a parent could call the admission office to gather more information for us students who are in school, I’m sure the forum would appreciate it

@minicooper, I have heard from reliable places that UCSD started calling people with admissions this week. Not relevant for this discussion, but some people may have already heard. Apparently, that is a tradition, there, available personnel permitting.

Spoke with Admissions yesterday and was told that acceptance, rejection and wait list notifications are actively being sent out. The process will continue for another 2 weeks.

Why does admissions like to give us a 2 week timeline every time? When People first started getting accepted they said that they would be done in 2 weeks. I feel like that’s just Their default answer when people call.

They just told me recently that friday was the last day of acceptances?? I’m really confused as to what is going on here, not to mention a bit flustered with the process… I wonder if they have been telling us these things just so we don’t bother them…

I will call when the open at 12:00. I am going to press further because I find it ridiculous that they keep telling us 2 weeks. I think we all deserve a better answer.

@nutthins it was SDSU - not sure why, but I actually made that post a week or so ago, and for some reason it just popped up today. As far as CP admissions, I’m not holding my breath for my daughter, but I will say that a good friend of hers was admitted at the end of March last year, so it does happen. Additionally, regarding UC San Diego, they actually have on their website that they starting calling students personally this week (as stated above), but that official admissions are released mid to late March. So, I’m not sure if calls are only made to top students?

@santacruz1 - As you know, many students that already rcvd their acceptance to CP SLO have also applied to UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, etc., and some of them will attend these UC’s, some will choose to attend CP SLO. So as CP SLO gets the “declines” from already accepted students, I’m sure there will be more “waitlisted” or “no determination” students getting accepted throughout March and April. This is a very active month for college admissions with alot of decisions being made at the end of March through April and even into May from what I’ve read on previous threads. It’s not over for awhile!

I don’t quite get the waitlist, though…CP says students have until May 15th to be let known if they have been offered a spot…how does that work when these kids need to commit to a school by May 1st?

If you are waitlisted, you commit somewhere else by May 1. If you get off the waitlist and decide to switch, you then let the first school know - some require a written withdrawal letter. Its not a big deal.

Has anyone gotten/heard of/known of any Materials Engineering acceptances?

@iamchickaddd I have only seen one @ciniper in late February I think.

My daughter was wait listed for Materials Engineering sometime last week.

Instate
Unweighted GPA 4.0
!0 AP classes by the time she graduates.
ACT 33

^^ Oops! That was supposed to say 10 AP’s.
