I’m kinda confused on their strategy for admitting students.
Is it safe to say that if people have already been accepted in your major that you’re either waitlisted or rejected? Have people ever gotten acceptances a few days afterwards?

Maybe for Bio, but not necessarily for anybody else since it seems to be only OOS applicants that have been accepted to engineering and such.
I am an international applicant. I applied for Mechanical Engineering. It still says that no determination has been made. Am I rejected?.. Or do i still have a chance…
@joogman23, the whole talk about the UCs being better than Cal Poly is silly. Better for what? If you want to get a PhD in engineering, by all means, Berkeley is one of the top. If however you want to get a BS in engineering, I’d choose Poly over any UC any day. The resources directed at undergrads at Poly are far more impressive at Poly. That why people are beating down the door to get in. For some majors, including Mechanical, Biomedical and Aerospace Engineering and likely Biology, Poly is the toughest public admit in CA. We have a family member with a PhD in engineering from Stanford and two friends who were professors at CalTech. All of them said our son would get a better engineering education at Cal Poly than he would at either Stanford or CalTech. To blanketly proclaim all UCs are better than CP is simply misinformation.
I confused about the OOS engineering decisions. Mine says “no determination has been made” and at this point it leads me to believe I may have been waitlisted or rejected? I would be kind of surprised since I got into Michigan engineering, and I was really expecting to get in to CP.
Don’t be surprised as Cal Poly’s 2014 acceptance rate for engineering was about 23%.
@ joogman23 I was saying don’t count on the waitlist, so don’t need to be warned, been to this rodeo before.
hi everyone i was just accepted thursday, here are my stats! (hopefully it gives you hope!)

CSU GPA: 3.62
Hi I was admitted on the 19th and was just wondering about how long it takes to receive an official email? Thanks
I applied for aerospace engineering but I haven’t heard back yet. Does this mean I’m probably will get declined, because people from aerospace were accepted yesterday? My academics are slightly below average compared to what I’ve been seeing. (Rate me Please?)

Technically I’m a resident of California because of my parents, but I’ve lived overseas all my life because of the military.
@MsDotsy congratulations on your acceptance! do you happen to know when your portal updated?
do you guys think instate engineers will find out today
@ayyemichelle I doubt it, cpslo hasn’t released decisions on weekends in years past. I just want to know now.
HAS ANYBODY HERE APPLIED FOR ECONOMICS
Have any business applicants, in state or OOS, heard back yet?
Guys, go have a nice weekend, this admissions process is the worst of any school and drags out for a very long time especially for those rejected who won’t hear for a couple weeks typically. Thousands will be waiting and wondering for many many days so try to stop your portal obsession, don’t ruin your weekend over a bad process! It’s funny that a CA school let’s OOS know first, I suppose this is a warning of what you deal with administratively at a giant state school? Every year I think the process will change and be better and it’s not. At least the UCs have the manpower to handle something as typical as admission notification. Go live life for now!
I agree with @blueskies2day. Enjoy your weekend. Both sons went through the acceptance process in the last 2 years as in-state applicants. Older son heard within the first few days but younger son, deferred from ED finally was denied March 10. By then he was a little digusted with process and had already moved onto his 2nd choice school and is very happy with his choice. Hang in there since more acceptances will be coming. I personally feel that SLO has accepted many more OOS applicants this year than prior years or more OOS are posting their results? Good luck to all waiting and Congrats to all accepted.
I am still confused…if I, as an OOS engineering applicant, have not heard yet does that mean I probably got waitlisted/rejected?
@bdoobie it all depends on what type of engineering you applied to, also you never know the exact science of how and when each group finds out. Good luck!
