Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Speech and Debate (Varsity for four years, State Champion, National Qualifier), two-year class president, 4-year section leader in orchestra/jazz band, MUN (many awards at state level for two years), lots of theatre, published artist
Job/Work Experience: Part-time job for the past eight months
Volunteer/Community service: A lot. I don’t really know where to start. Upwards of 600 service hours over past three years. I founded a few service organizations and regularly initiate service projects for myself and other students as a director of our school’s Social Entrepreneurship club
Summer Activities: Summit Debate speech camp
Teacher Recommendation: I haven’t seen them, but they were written by two teachers that I am very close to that are very well known for writing outstanding rec letters</p>
<p>Intended Major: Undecided, but I want to go into education
State (if domestic applicant): Montana
School Type: Public, about 1,500 students. Only IB school in the state
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Received 47,000 in aid, which was an awesome surprise</p>
<p>Strengths: Extracurriculars and community involvement (demonstrated achievement in both areas), leadership positions, teacher recommendations, essays, my sister also went to Carleton
Weaknesses: Test scores</p>
<p>General Comments: I am really thankful to have such luck in the application process. Carleton is a great school, but I do know if I will end up in Northfield. It’s hard to imagine myself going to my sister’s alma mater instead of making my way somewhere new. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted and good luck to those who are still anticipating a response!</p>
