Brother Is a graduating senior in SCS at CMU She has shown lot of interest and visited several times.

Average amount of community service and summer camps in engineering. I assume rec letters were all very positive.

Rejected from Stanford and Berkeley. Accepted to U of Texas (Turing honors) and Ga Tech. Waiting on one more but will probably be between UT and CMU.

@shaninbe That’s really weird that she was completely rejected from Stanford. I got waitlisted and I dont have the high scores she does…I do have a few more extra-currics, but very similar stats overall…

Many kids with perfect stats get rejected from Stanford. It is insane. She applied early. It was her top choice. She submitted a music supplement also. Oh well. Not meant to be. Good luck to you

@shaninbe it is/was/still might be my top choice. We shall see though, there’s still not a good chance of getting in on waitlist anyway…Thank you! Good luck to her if she is still waiting on other decisions!

Does anyone know the acceptance rate for CMU this year?

@MandomeLife are you accessing the enrollment reply form & admitted student questionnaire using your new or old ID? Can’t find any new options to click on those but also cannot access financial aid info as it still says “financial aid processing is not complete.” Just admission decision button works which leads to acceptance letter only. Was your financial aid info updated online with acceptance? @Riviera2016 are you able to find student questionnaire & enrollment reply form through your original ID? Hopefully the FAT package will arrive today with more info! Congrats to you both! =D>

I’m confuse. I got “Priority Wait List” - what is that?! If I say yes and they offer me admission, am I obligated to matriculate? I applied to the School of Computer Science & the School of Engineering.

when i log on a white screen appears and says “Carnegie Mellon Admission ERROR getting data” What the heck!!! I checked last night (midnight) and got that. I checked at 7am and now 10am and still a getting that!!! Idk what to do :frowning: No FAT package yesterday, we’ll see about today. Very disappointing rn

Son got waitlisted for engineering. I am trying to understand the pros and cons of the two wait list options: regular and priority. Why would someone select the regular wait list instead of the priority wait list? If waitlisted, is everyone given both options? Clearly neither is a binding decision, like the Early Decision agreement is. So, what is the down side of picking the Priority Wait List? Also, I thought it was interesting that, his first choice major is ECE, but he was only offered wait lists in other engjneering majors, because they said they do not anticipate any openings in ECE. His 2nd choice was Computer Science, which he was not offered on a wait list. And, his 3rd choice (which I can’t remember right now) was not addressed at all in the letter.

If anyone has past experience with Carnegie Mellon waitlists, please share.

Same as above: Got the following

Thank you for the opportunity to review your application to Carnegie Mellon’s College of Engineering,
Mellon College of Science and School of Computer Science and for Fall 2016. Each year, Carnegie
Mellon receives an increasing number of applications from very talented students. Because of space
limitations and the large number of students who are interested in the College of Engineering, Mellon
College of Science and School of Computer Science and , we are unable to offer you admission at this
time and have placed your name on our waiting list.
Unfortunately, we do not anticipate any wait list openings in Electrical and Computer Engineering. As a
result, your name has been placed on a waiting list for the other departments in the College of
Engineering. These departments include Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, as well as our double major programs in Engineering &
Public Policy and Biomedical Engineering.

Any suggestions (from past years)? Please share.

@terr24lr SAME! I haven’t been able to log in to my portal since December because it always pops out as “receiving error…unable to access file”! But don’t worry. I’ve called the admissions office twice and both times they said that they could access my completed info from their end so it’s solid. I’m pretty sure there’s something wrong with their system. Guess we’ll just have to wait for the FAT envelope…or any kinds of envelopes lol…to know.

@ancientfan when you called were they willing to give your decision over the phone? Also, did they say when this problem may be fixed? I am going to PM you rn

@Porter098 I am accessing the accepted student portal at cmu.edu/ntia

@Stanfordrejec 21.7%

Does this mean I am wait listed to MCS and SCS as well?

@rbdahl I just read the whole thing and it sounds like a Waitlist for all 3 schools and that you cannot be on the Waitlist for ECE.
