[] Additional Rec: N/A
[li] Interview: Went smoothly, although I think I screwed up one question
[/li]

[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: +100k
[] Hooks: I guess being Hispanic helped. (I really didn’t have much else going for me)

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My ethnicity is about all I can think of…
[] Weaknesses: Terribly low GPA, mid-low test scores, not much EC’s
[] Why you think you were accepted: Ethnicity. My essays could have helped sway the decision in my favor as well.
[] Where else did you apply: Accepted to Penn State, Purdue, Baylor. Declined from all UC’s. Waitlisted at U of Miami.

[/ul]General Comments:
My family and I are all astonished, to say the least, at my admittance. As for advice for future applicants: I chose to apply to IS even though it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do. IS is one of the easiest departments to get in to, and I doubt I’d have been accepted to any other department. I’m not condoning applying to IS if you have no interest whatsoever in the IS major, though. Rather, just be smart about which program you choose.

Also, do an interview. Even if you don’t think you’ll benefit from it, you will at least walk away with some great advice from someone who’s been through what you are/will be going through.
