I also dabble in web design and manage the school website.
[] Job/Work Experience: Lifeguard for one summer, Legal Assistant/Clerk in a high-profile client firm for another. (I basically just had to proof legal documents for spelling and grammar and do secretarial work. :p)
[] Volunteer/Community service: Pro-bono web design for various businesspeople within my home city.
[] Summer Activities: When I wasn't working, I was hanging out. Nothin' special there.
[] Essays: Extremely good. I wrote about my desire to transform the video game industry and work to create games that women would enjoy playing as well as men; my thesis was "games are the literature of our future."
[] Teacher Recommendation: Stellar. One teacher had west nile virus and still insisted on writing my letter while bedridden.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Chess Club (President), Math Club (President), Chemistry Club (Vice President), Computer Club, Art Club, National Honor Society. Most of my application consisted of out of school stuff though- such as me sewing my own clothing and applying my knowledge to sewing at a church for needy people.
[] Job/Work Experience: Amusement Park Games Operator, Freelance
[] Volunteer/Community service: That goes with extra curricular. Nothing completely amazing, just basically me applying my interest. I did some stuff for National Honor Society
[] Summer Activities: ----------------Usual. Why should I change because its summer time?
[] Essays: One was about the Challenges of Operating a Parapsychology Community, and the other one (the supplement), I used a lot of metaphors. It took me about a month to do these.
[] Teacher Recommendation: One good, one not so good.
[] Counselor Rec: I know the counselor personally.
[] Additional Rec: College prof- good for the most part.
[] Interview: Yes. I think it went sort of well. I had an interview with an actual adcom. The whole staff was very polite and nice. They left a wonderful impression. I asked her a few questions that surprised her. I had a decent answer for what i was looking for in a college, but i struggled on what i could add to their community. I also didnt bs/give excuses about my low test scores.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essays, Interview.[/li][/ul]General Comments: Be yourself. I cannot stress this. My application was no where near what they tell you to do. My mother, if she saw what i wrote, would have disowned me. Im not joking.

ED in and of itself adds some weight to the application because you're making it perfectly clear that the school is your first choice. Plus, RD isn't out yet. You can be proud in your own threads (there's 2 EDs for CMU iirc).

Im aware. Honestly, this thread should not be RD only. People that got in are people that got in. You should be able to be proud either way.

ED has less of an acceptance rate than RD. Also, We both noted that we were ED. It doesnt really matter.

How did you guys find out. I cant seem to find my email or where to login.
[/quote]

Carnegie Mellon should have sent you a packet in the mail with admissions ID information. I got one of these along with a "how did we do" form. This admissions id is what you use to login, along with your last name and your birthdate.

Since tomorrow marks the 3rd day since letters were sent out, they might be posting decisions online tomorrow, whereas letters wont start coming in until Tuesday. Im not sure if they are going to skip Sunday in that count though.

This isn't a thread about being proud guys, it's for future years to look at to compare themselves and see if they're in the ballpark. Kids with the extra ED weight will give kids applying RD in the future false hope. Which is why there are segregated threads.

But there wasnt a separate thread. Geez... chill. Im sure anyone that gets in ED is just as qualified as those accepted in RD. Aka, no false hopes about it.
