I didn't see this earlier because I kept looking for the Blank Line to say "Accepted" or "Rejected" or something. I'm pretty excited. I just texted my parents that I got in, and the first thing my mom said was "You would have got MIT too". My parents have been freaking out about choosing to apply to CMU instead of MIT. Heh, right now, I'm glad I picked CMU. Honestly, I have been in this Blank Line/Wave/General Correspondence paranoia craze. So, it's good to know my decision =). I hope other kids in my school get in here as well.

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
[/li][/ul]General Comments: Congrats to those accepted. Good luck to those who were waitlisted or denied.

Yay Dramatical and S1732 for being in HSS together! Seriously, there's not many of us on here and I feel relieved there are more of you than the previous posts on here have indicated.

Whew for the like, 3 of us accepted to HSS...haha!

I take it that the HSS program is really small?

Actually, I don't think that HSS is that small. Last year, HSS enrolled 260 students (out of 1185 that were admitted, WOW). IS, SCS, MCS, and Tepper all enrolled fewer students that HSS did. CIT is the biggest, with 423 student enrolled last year.

Here's the site: Admission Statistics

so you know that I'm not just pulling these numbers randomly out of thin air, haha. I mean, I'm a little concerned by the lack of emphasis put on humanities & social sciences, but whatever; it's still a good school. The interdisciplinary thing is pretty unique, and I like the general student atmosphere. Do you think you'll come to CMU, Dramatical?

I think CMU's yield numbers may be misleading simply because they do not (correct me if i'm wrong) account for students who were admitted to more than one school within the university. i.e. a student who turns down HSS can still accept a spot at CIT or SCS if they applied and were admitted to all 3. True, they are not enrolled with HSS, but they are still attending CMU

Yeah, that makes sense, because HSS's matriculation is uuberlow as it stands, statistics-wise.
