Thank you all for your patience these past weeks! We appreciate your continued feedback and we want to assure you that the tech team is working hard to make sure you have the best experience possible. In this thread, the CC team will post updates periodically regarding issues, feature changes, and technical updates.
Here is a quick overview of what we’re working on:

We’ve released some updates to the mobile view of the site so that the pagination within threads makes it easier for the user to get to the last page—rather than paging from the first page all the way through.

We have released an update to the mobile apps. It will be listed as an update in iOS, but will be listed as a new app in the Google Play store. We are looking at additional improvements to the mobile versions.

We’ve also completed tasks on a long list of bugs, backend items, and moderation issues that users won’t actually see but were needed for stability, security, and community management. These items are the ones that are necessary, but don’t have any glory… kind of like fixing wiring in a house… You’d rather use the money on granite countertops and new drapes, but you need to make sure the lights stay on first.

We are working through the 503 and logout issues some of you are experiencing and making progress on those. This is a top priority for us, and we are taking these issues very seriously as we investigate and remedy this. Many apologies for the inconveniences these have caused you. Rest assured knowing that we are reading your threads, taking notes, and working on solutions.

COMING SOON, we will have the redirect issue fixed where once members log in they are taken to the home page. Instead they will be taken back to the page they came from. This is scheduled to be released late next week.
We’ll continue to update you on the latest developments soon!
GREAT NEWS! The tech team informed us that the 503s and log out issues have been resolved.
Please PM me with the details if you keep having these issues.
UPDATE!!! The tech team confirmed that the redirect issue should now be fixed. This means that now when you log in you are taken back to the page you were on instead of being taken to the homepage.
Please PM me with the details if you keep having these issues. Thanks!
UPDATE! As some of you have requested, here is a list of things that the tech team is currently working on. These fixes are coming up soon!

Who’s Online—bug fix that gave an unexpected error message when changing visibility status.

Update last page of a categories results to include link to search—in a thread that has more content than we can show, on the last page there will be a link; the link will take you to the advanced search with the thread already selected.

Post Field Resize Issue—switched to autosizing the reply box vs. manually sizing the box. The two were conflicting.

Thank you again for your patience throughout this process!
Community, all logout issues experienced since this morning should now be resolved. It sounds repetitive, but THANK YOU all for the support!
QUICK UPDATE to let you know that we have implemented a “Remember Me” feature that will now show on the login screen.
Make sure you check the “Remember Me” option so that you are logged in when you come back to the site. If you do not select “Remember Me,” the session will last 60 minutes. If you do select it, the session will last 14 days.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Going forward, we allow for 15 MINUTES to edit one’s post. Here is why:
We allow a brief period for editing so that typos can be fixed and there’s a chance to complete a partial post that was submitted accidentally. We limit the time editing is available so that a member can’t change the content of a post after other members have replied to it. It’s not common, but in communities with a long edit window we’ve seen members completely change what they posted, which in turn makes the replies from other members look wrong or nonsensical.
UPDATE:
Links to the Rules and Terms of Service can now be found in the footer at the bottom of each page.
Quick update to let you know that we now have a user-friendly mobile registration and log in. Those screens are now optimized for the mobile device. While this may not be much (considering the bigger issues signaled by the community), it surely is a nice improvement for those logging in via phone.
I know it sounds repetitive, but we are working on finding solutions to address the major requests—though they require more time and resources. Thanks!
Just a quick note to let you know that we have updated the CC usernames (of both the admin and the tech team). The standard CC username will now be as follows: [CCadmin/tech] + _ + [first name]. I hope this makes it easier for everyone to communicate with us. Thanks!
It probably took longer that we all expected, but we finally have some BIG NEWS to share. As many of you have requested, we’ve implemented a series of updates. Please see below:

Display post # in a thread for each post w/ link to comment

Reply link/button to each post that drops user down to reply box

Date/time stamp - show on page vs hover

Indicator to identify threads that I have posted in, namely the newly added “ME” column which will be selected for all threads I posted in.

Thanks again for the support and understanding! The tech team will continue to work in the back end to improve your experience on the site. As usual, we’ll keep you posted on the latest developments.
We have successfully deployed a couple fixes and an improvement this morning:
[ul]
[]Timestamp fix – timestamps will no longer show posts that were posted today as posted “Yesterday” during evening hours on the same day
[]Reporting posts on threads with long titles fix – Users are once again able to report posts from threads with long titles without a character limit error
[li]General performance enhancement – A patch has been applied that should help with the forums’ overall stability and performance[/li][/ul]
Thank you for your support! As always, we are dedicated to improving the overall site experience and will keep you updated on future releases.
As announced yesterday, we’ve successfully completed the redesign of the CC homepage. Some of the new features include:

A new, modern design – today’s high school students are more technologically savvy than ever and their expectations of website design and technology has never been higher. College Confidential has been upgraded to exceed these expectations.

Mobile and tablet-ready interface – with mobile device use growing each year, having a responsive web site is a necessity. College Confidential’s new design aims to provide the best possible experience on all devices.

Content discovery –No matter where you are on the site, one-click access of a new “mega menu” lets you discover and quickly access the latest and greatest content with ease.

Consistent user experience – unification of experience between the discussion forum and other college information areas of the site provide increased exposure to your brand.

Increased security and stability – Our visitors’ and members’ security is always top of mind, and these upgrades help safeguard users and their information.

Thank you all for the support! As always, the team will continue to work in the back end to improve your experience on the site. We’ll make sure to keep you posted on the latest developments.
