Official Chem SAT 2 scores

Well.. I got a 760, which is not bad, I supposed. Um... anyone have an idea what the curve was? And please post your scores!

foolonthehill how did you feel after you took the test. Was that score above or below your expectations

I got a 790
I definitely didn't think that I did that well

i still haven't gotten my chem score, hoping for 770+

apparently an 800 is only 98th percentile

i got 750 and I was expecting 750-800, so I guess it isn't that bad, but with 2 years of chem (including AP), I should and can do better...

atomicfusion, did you study at all? i recommend barron's. if you just brush up slightly, i'm sure you can bring it up to an 800. and i was under the impression that 98th percentile for 800 is pretty good.

Well I had the barron's book and I studied for like... 2 hours total lol. Plus after the AP test, our class did nothing at all. So that's like a month off. I realized I didn't know anything for qualitative analysis (our class never really covered it) and labs (we had weird labs I guess).

I got a 730 without the Barron's book after only regular chemistry class. I only got a 730 once on a PR practice test and didn't even think I would get over 700. But, I go to a very tough school that specializes in math and science, so I guess the instruction level is somewhat above that of a regular school. Anyway, I am very happy with my score since I was thinking of cancelling it to begin with.

Barron's is very bad. They make all the questions harder than they really are. Some ppl think that this is good practice, but that will just scare ppl for no reason.

Last year, I took 1 year of Honors Chemistry and got an 89.3 in that class =( I practiced for the SATII Chem with the Kaplan book and got an 800 on the June 2004 exam. The curve on the chem is very generous. Usually you can get 5-7 questions wrong (if you answered all of them) and still get an 800.

I never broke 700 on a practice Barron's exam (i took 2) and that proves how stupid Barron's is.

Well, I didn't really study for the test because I managed to foolishly convince myself that I didn't need to prepare for chemistry since I had been on the Chemistry team. Unfortunately, what I did not realize was that I did not have a very good grasp of the basic concepts, and on the test, I made over 10 silly mistakes. I took a couple of practice at home though using Barrons, Kaplans, and Sparknotes, and got 800 on most of them. 760 is definitely below the expectations I set for myself, and I am really disappointed in myself. There is noone to blame but myself. I'm considering retaking the exam this October just so I can feel better.

got a 760. Dangit, because we went over in class during the next month what I didn't know (nuclear chem and organic)

why do the percentiles seem so low for sat 2's

Only top schools generally require them, and as a result, only top students who apply to those school take them.

I got a 740, 86 percentile, a little irked by the score.
I studied barron's alot, though I probably didnt know lab setups, acid bases, voltaic cells, descriptive chem, and organic chem too well.

Barron's tests arent that hard, especially if you review one and go on to the next one, as they recycle questions pretty overtly. I got 770 on Real practice, and 720-780 on assorted practice tests. The actual test wasn't too difficult but my score was not on par with the percieved difficulty.

Stupid non AP chem, didnt learn at least a quarter of the material in class.
May take physics to sub for chem as science SAT II.

I got an 800, having had 1 year of honors chemistry + studying with PR and the Real SAT II's book. I thought after I finished that I didn't do particularly well, so I'm guessing that the curve was fairly generous.

i got a 750, 89th percentile (in may). i mostly used the barron's ap book (since i also had to take the ap test) and sparknotes. i think i would have done better if i'd studied more, but i guess i'm satisfied. i have no idea how many i missed, though.

i got a 750. i took the june test btw. i don't plan on retaking it though. does any1 one know how a 750 on chem looks to the ivy league schools? thanks.

I'm actually a freshman in Honors Chem.
