Official Class of 2009 Housing Thread

not necessarily formal... but like... i don't know..
capture the flag, paint the mascot (do colleges have mascots?), steal the cannon, you know... anything that will promote good old competitive spirit!

For crying out loud there must be some competition between colleges, intramural or not, sport or no sport, official or fairly ilegit.... right?

Of course there is a mascot...the TIGER! Rawr

And the cannon thing was with Rutgers...and um, Princeton buried that cannon in front of Nassau.

http://www.princeton.edu/~recsport/intramural/ There are residential college teams, eating club teams, etc.

http://www.princeton.edu/~paw/archive_new/PAW03-04/07-0128/notebook.html#Notebook5 "Demolition will begin in 2006, after Whitman College is completed and there is sufficient dormitory space for all students. Tentative plans aim for the new Butler quad to be ready for students in the 2008—09 academic year." Whitman has already been delayed, though, so who knows?

Yea that's what I was thinking...I just don't think Princeton is the most...efficient sometimes, and getting those special stones from Europe to build Whitman must be taking a long time...:p

special stones? what special stones? and why?

And who cares for efficiency? Works of art are not done with efficiency in mind and Princeton is a work of art!

The tiger is the mascot of the University! ...duuuh... I was asking about res college mascots.
I know the canon thing was with Rutgers, I was curious if there is any such thing between res colleges

I don't think they have that many spare cannons lol.
Um, I don't think res colleges have mascots either. The butt? hahahha
And Forbes is the only one with a slogan thingie.

the class of '05 stamped '05 on all the cannons. i hope they fix em.

I think we should make the mascot of Butler a giant waffle.

Who wants to wear the waffle suit?

But I don't even have waffles in my Hall!

Btw, does anyone have the link to approved appliances? Are space heaters allowed?

I don't know, but if you go to the individual residential college websites, they all have different colors. Rocky is green, Butler is one shade of blue, Forbes is one shade of red, Mathey is another shade of Red, and Wilson is another shade of blue. And I can't see close enough, but the sheilds look kind of different, too. But it could just be a trick of the eye.

Well, when an admissions rep visited my school I think someone asked about this, and her answer was basically that your strongest allegiance will be to your class year, in pton and in the future as alumni. You will have tons of '09 stuff and that's the first thing you're going to ask/tell when you meet other princeton people.

cool. ive already met too many cool princetonians before my residential college assignment.

Exactly. That's one advantage I think we have over a school like Yale: we aren't bound to (or as it sometimes seems, imprisoned by) our residential college. It's all about the 2-0-0-9 :D

Okey, so can we steal the '08ers canon? Or stamp '09 on all the '08ers bikes?

theres no "class cannon." there are just the cannons that date back to when rutgers was a comparable school, which were stamped by the graduating class of '05 (senior prank type deal).

I know there's no class canon! It was a metaphour for any sort of inter colleges, or inter class pranks....

There's Cane Spree in the spring to look forward to! That'll decide which class is the best once and for all (among '08 and '09, anyways). Of course '09 will win, but it'll be fun to watch/participate in anyways :D

Cane Spree?

Speaking of spring, I'm looking forward to April 24th.
