Accepted!!!!!

my friend who's on the phone got accepted =)

Are they online right now? If so I need to call a friend and let her know.

They're online.

accepted!!!!!!

I'm so jealous. I'm hanging by on a thread. My account for some odd reason was never accessible through the Applicant Services page. Grr. I guess I just have to wait until Monday.

Did you guys get an email notifying you of the decision/that the decision was up? (My best friend is freaking out right now as she has no access to a computer for a couple of hours...hopefully when she does she'll be freaking out in a good way :) )

Congratulations you guys. I'm applying RD and NU has, after I took a more serious look at it, become my first choice, even ahead of Stanford and Columbia. I'd be very upset if I somehow got into one of those but not NU.

If only I'd done my research over the summer, then I'd be waiting on an email too.

Got rejected...

rejected, oh well time to start crackin the whip and apply elsewhere. Good luck and congrats to all!

Just got accepted... Complete shock to me as my stats were not even that great. Congratulation to all of you that got accepted. I am sorry to hear about those rejections, but I am sure you will get into a great school anyways. Good Luck.

What were your stats Mano, im applyin RD and i fear its a reach.

Here's my basic info:

SAT I: 700M, 620CR, 640W
SATII: US Hist 650, MathII 600
Class rank: top 3%
6 AP Classes
UWGPA: 3.67 (including one C+)
Decent Essays, very personal though
ECs: Football, Economic research, and a lot of leadership
I think I mainly got in because of my extracurriculars.

good luck

congrats to everyone who got in! i'm sorry to everyone who didn't, but i am sure you will get in somewhere else that is super great & be really happy there! where is everyone from that got in?

Not like I can post yet, but here's a nice format to include stats to help those whose decisions have yet to come (RDers & me). It's stolen off Harvard/Yale/Stanford/Columbia/Dartmouth.. yeah all of them have the same format.

Basically, we just get rid of the spaces inbetween the brackets and it'll look spectacular. Well, good luck for those waiting! And for all those rejected, you all have awesome colleges still. (I think I'm trying to convince myself).

Even if you already posted your results, join in! If you don't feel like it, it's okay too!

[li] major strength/weakness: weak cum GPA (sick sophomore year) but biggg upward trend, weak SATs, double legacy helped i'm sure, but good ECs/essays probably did it for me, since NU puts tons of emphasis on those aspects[/li][/ul]
my best friend also got in, which is good--he needs someone to look after him in college. congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to those who don't--you'll end up at great, if not better, places.

Wasn't really expecting this result, but I'm happy with it.. :)

Decision: ACCEPTED (Medill School of Journalism)

Stats
SAT: 1910
SAT IIs: Literature 520 Math IC: 570
GPA: 3.89 (unweighted)
Rank: top 5%
Other stats: I had freakin awesome EC's - 2-year writer for regional newspaper, writing for regional magazine, producer for student radio show, Yearbook editor, student pilot, open-water scuba diver, etc.

Subjective
Essays: Awesome. I wrote my personal essay about the social/political climate of working at a cannery in Alaska with a workforce compiled mainly of international laborers. Very John Steinbeckish.
Teacher Recs: Great.
Counselor Rec: Didn't read.
Hook (if any): Born in the Philippines, only one parent graduated from high school...?

Location/Person
State or Country: Small hicktown, Oregon
School Type: Tiny (500 students), enormously underfunded, public
Ethnicity: Asian
Gender: female
Intended Major: Print Journalism
Major strength: Writing talent, EC's, recs, visited campus
Major weakness: Horrible SAT's, low GPA

Advice: The first time I ever saw the campus my heart inflated like a parachute. The admissions officers must have received my wants via ESP. So, work on your ESP skills, and be yourself in your application. Truly you.

damn thats pretty awesome, i regret not applying ED now. I hope I can get in RD, my stats fall in between the stats mentioned above.
