I really rushed my application because I decided on Northwestern at the last minute. I think the quality of my essays and my rushed short responses/why NU statement really hurt me. Moral of the story: do all your apps in a timely manner and don't discount the help of a good essay.

ESP is extra-sensory perception.

Wow, I just got off from work, and I didn't expect this at all.

So I really worked on the subjective side; I think I worked on the essays for about 2 months..[/li][/ul]Other Factors:** I really don't know how I got accepted. I hope my acceptance gives other people some hope and reassurance. I'm really sorry for those who didn't get accepted... Good luck with your RD schools!

Looks like the admits have less test scores than the rejects, at least for those that posted. Test scores aren't everything and this proves! :) NU is very big on essays.

me best friend just called me: ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeay!

Yeah, I'm surprised the acceptees don't have amazing stats. Like, we all have decent stats, but they aren't AMAZING.

By the way, you guys, I deactivated my facebook account because I think we get a new email address once we enroll.. like my email address is something like jjb139@hacky.it.northwestern.edu, and I doubt it's my permanent email address. So I don't think we should start facebooking until we get the real email address.

uhhh, I believe that address will always be your address, but I think they will automatically give you a more user friendly alias before long. You'll be able to edit that alias yourself, and you might even be able to get in to make the changes already. You could probably go exploring on the NUIT page to find out.

Well, I'm not going to bash NU on its own board, but certainly it's not as selective as the Ivies, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, etc., so you don't need amazing stats to get in, especially for ED. If you attend a well-known high school in the Chicago area, for example, a top 5% class rank pretty much guarantees acceptance.

I think what he meant by "amazing stats" is 700s+ across the board and near perfect GPAs but few admits here got in with 600s (jsprad, who got 700+ in all of his/her tests, got rejected, however). The average SAT for the ENROLLED freshmen class in the past 2 years has been around 1400 (1403 to be exact for last year) however. The average for admitted can be even a little higher. Perhaps the advantage of ED over RD is indeed pretty significant.

that address is your mailbox address. to get an email like j-doe@northwestern.edu you change your alias. you can do this by going to the webmail page and then clicking on the link that says set up email forwarding and you'll find a column on the left that says change email adddress.
