[] Why I think I was accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I took AB Calc in my sophomore year and got a C+, and I took BC Calc the next year and got an A+ (5 in both AP exams). I think my grades showed that I challenged myself, and actually ended up improving. Also I was in an English-as-a-second-language program the whole time in my freshmen year, and 3 years later I decided to take AP English.. My essay topic was actually about challenge.
[] Other thoughts:
my SAT scores In Korea the competition for getting into top colleges is pretty high--they have hundreds of institutions like Princeton Review that teaches how to guess correctly when you are taking your SAT tests and such. Some institutions have their students' essays corrected by "professionals" because if they send their students to "good" schools that'll raise their reputation. It's kinda sad how things work, but it feels great to be accepted to a very competitive school like Duke without all that Bll*****. Guess what? my total SAT score is not even 2150! what a miracle...
