[ *] Other thoughts:I am a girl who had worked her butt off. I may have slacked off a little during my senior year, but I still got in. I have taken 8 AP courses, done horrible in AP Chem and I almost failed honors pre-calculus but I'm doing great in calculus. I took 2 college courses last summer and have participated in summer programs since 7th grade. I attended the Biomedical Symposium last year and I met the Surgeon General. I thank the Lord that I did get in. I have a tough decision to make between Duke and Johns Hopkins. It will depend on financial aid ultimately.

Also, I have a lot of volunteering hours and hopefully showed through my SAT II's that I have a wide range of interests instead of being like other people who do all science etc...
[/li]

Honestly, I'm not quite sure how I got in, seeing that some other people had much higher scores than mine. I used the common app and my essay was on my self re-evaluation and how I will never really be satisfied with myself... constant self-improvement, etc. One of my teacher recs was amazing, I'm sure, and the other was good but very informal. The second mentioned an independent design project I've done that spoke to my inquisitiveness. I'd really like to read the first one though ...

Other thoughts: Well... my consolations to those rejected... I feel for you, as I'm not entirely sure how I got in. Either they liked my essay or my recommendations, as far as I can figure. I look forward to seeing my fellow classmates next fall.

im answering my own question for anyone who's still wondering. yes you can still get financial aid. i sent in my forms early april, and just got my package late last week and duke was still very nice to me. in fact, i think i would have gotten the same amount if i had turned in my tax forms on time.
