Parents have refused to pay my tuition to UGA. I guess asking them to pay for Vanderbilt is pointless…

I started filling out the basic stuff. I’m applying to Skidmore, Smith, Wellesley, Hope and Calvin.

^Hope College? Me too haha

I’m applying to Notre Dame (EA), Georgetown (EA/RD not sure), W&L (RD), and Duke (RD). My biggest problem is deciding where else to apply. I’m putting off a lot of visits until this fall/winter, but I don’t want to pay my life in app fees. Common app is just about done, my essay’s off to a pretty good start, haven’t started any supplements… And I’m retaking SAT2s in November. Will I be at disadvantage applying RD to most schools?

I decided approximately a week ago that I was applying to Carnegie Mellon ED. I’m terrified that I won’t get admitted…

^^ Nope.

^ We’re all terrified. My friend (who knows I hate religion) told me this the other day: “If you don’t get admitted, that means God has a better plan for you and you’ll probably get accepted someplace better RD.” Apart from the God bit, I think that might be true. Even if you don’t get accepted to CMU, I’m sure you’re applying to other schools that are just as good, and you might find that when you get there, you love them just as much (or even more)!

Well I feel like my whole life has been wasted because yesterday my parents started preparing the finaid stuff and I saw our family’s total gross income. It’s in the high 100ks after taxes. Somehow, someway, my parents continue to make money and spend it all each month. You would think since I come from a Jewish family they would know how to save. Nope. Needless to say, I should only apply to in-state public schools, the best one being UVA. UVA is not a bad school by any means but my stats put me in a place where I should be applying to some amazing schools, and my favorite thus far has been Duke. Honestly, it really really confuses me as to how I would not be able to afford out-of-state. If my family made less I could qualify for Finaid. But nope, they make quite enough, they just spend it all.

Oh, and I’d like to point out that I don’t have a pool in my backyard nor do I live in mansion. I go to private school but go there for free since my mom works there. My sister goes to an in-state college on a half scholarship. We’re definitely an above average family but we do not look anything close to the income bracket we are in.

I need to work on my essays. I know what to write for the common app essay, but don’t feel like typing it yet. I should get around to looking at some supplements since I’ll be doing some EA apps.

ETA: I just realized that none of my EA apps require supplemental essays. Good for me.

^ HAAATE.

lowercase10char

I started filling out the Common App the other day, but I haven’t even begun to think about the essays. Ugh. My excuse is that I had reconstructive knee surgery two weeks ago and havn’t been up to doing much until now. :P

I’m applying to Lawerence Unversity, Boston College (EA), Iowa State, UW Madison, Carleton, Berkley, and one other that I haven’t decided on. It’s quite the mix. Haha

^ *Berkeley

aha, oops, thanks.

…guys, i have an issue.

i’m applying to 12 schools.

why in the?..what is wrong with?..oh my god i can’t even…

I CAN’T MAKE ANY DECISIONSSS T^T

I can’t even ****ing decide on even one school!!! Our counselor just scared us NO end with what we need to have done and I have done NOTHING of it! i AM Panicking!

^^ Okay, calm down. 12 isn’t that much. If you think it’s way too many, maybe you should do even more super-in-depth research. Stalk the CC boards for those colleges. Email students and/or alumni, especially if you know them.

^ Don’t worry, you still have time! If you haven’t finalized your decisions yet, you can still start on your Common App essay (if you haven’t done so already) and fill out the rest of the Common App. Just do your research. Try setting yourself a deadline to choose schools by so that you’re not overly stressed, but get it done anyway.

D:

why don’t we just all NOT apply to college and create a self-sufficient community with one another where we can live in happily ignorant, uneducated bliss?

^ YES PLEEEEASE.

lowercase

@starfruit you get my humor. i like you. haha.

no but really. hiding from the world in my bed right now. chances of getting back out? 0%.

I haven’t started commonapp essay and my teacher wants it by MONDAY. I guess it’s a good thing I have a book on how to write college essays in record time. Thanks for the idea starfruit, about setting a deadline to choose schools. I guess it will have to be Monday for me.

Oh and speaking about the claim thing, I was talking to one of the girls in my school today and she too expressed dismay about the fact that I might be applying to her dream school. Oh well… So how did you guys make your lists? Like did you use College Matchmaker or Fiske guide or what?

^^ Haha, I always talk about dropping out and becoming a hobo, but creating a community of us is genius!

^ I did a lot of research. I mean, it’s ridiculous. I basically stalk CC and the school’s websites and stuff. I never actually used Fiske, but I heard it was supposed to be excellent.
