Official Class of 2011 College App Support Thread

I somehow don’t seem to be getting anything from school websites, they all seem to say the same thing, except for UChicago which says stuff like “life of the mind” and stuff.

After researching and looking around for a LONG time, I’ve decided that the school that I really truly loved was the one in my own backyard, UW-Madison. My current plan is to apply, hopefully get in, and then spend my time writing essays for the honors program. They have rolling admissions which means I can find out in mid-October if I’m accepted and it will relieve a lot of the stress from senior year

^^ Hmm, if you look beyond just the admissions page, I know some schools have a wealth of information that gives you an impression of what the personality of the students is like. Swarthmore, for example, has a lot of stuff like links to student blogs, information about some of their traditions…

On the common app it asks for the highest sat and act scores but I’m planning on taking the SAT and ACT in september and october. So If put my best score so far is it still okay to send in those scores first and then after I complete the sat and act in sept and oct could I send those too?

1790 is my best SAT score so far. Is that enough for the SUNY schools and like drexel rutgers
650 Math, 540 Critical Reading

Also on the app it does ask for any of college classes taken in high school for example I took College Spanish through SUNY Albany and got 8 college credits for that so how do I put that on app or do I just send in the transcript from suny albany to stony brook.

Im applying to stony brook, buffalo, albany, new paltz, drexel, binghamton, st. john’s university, penn state, rutgers and maybe temple

For someone that is fairly new here, can someone help me answer my question? How exactly do I know if a College/university is a “match/stretch/reach/safety” etc?

Also, I haven’t even started filling out any applications yet either. In fact, I am still visiting a few schools in the next month or two. So I can apply to the ones that I REALLY LOVE, and not the ones that I just like.

Generally, you may be able to tell how likely it is to get into a school when you compare your own GPA and test scores against the students who get in.

I like to use [CollegeBoard’s college search](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board) and check out the “How Do I Stack Up” page when I’m looking at a college’s profile.

collegeboard makes me feel a little better XD i feel like i stress out about this too much.

lol, discovering the clam fart thread thanks to the “what is the funniest thing you’ve read on CC” thread has made me feel indefinitely better.

needs to find said thread

bumping this to say i’ve completed 8/10 supplements. only have amherst and vassar left. unsure of my chances with either but it’s worth a shot!

anymore updates?

I’ve only applied to two schools so far–ED and EA.

I sent in my applications. This process is done for me.

Hate you all. I have several essays in the works, nothing finished…
I’m going to kill myself come Thanksgiving break.

haha im going to be working hard over thanksgiving too :p

What time are apps due for Nov 15th ED? I’m worried that they’re due at 5pm or some strange time like that. The cut off is 11:59pm right?

yups. the cut off is more than likely 11:59pm November 15.

Phew. Thanks. :)

The cutoff is 11:59 PM at that school’s time zone

so… how are everyone’s essays going?
I’m frantically writing and cramming.

Same here! I plan to submit most of my stuff later today (it’s currently about 5am here).
I still have to do the Williams supplement. I plan to submit it today, too.
I plan to submit Pomona and Rice tomorrow. I have yet to start either of their supplements. I did, however, just finish Stanford’s supplement, which is a complete beezy. Now I feel like a BAMF.

I’m such a big procrastinator I’m not even worried lol. Everything’ll all turn out fine guys, don’t worry! (Plus, my mom has a “feeling” about Harvard. I was like what does that even mean mom? Lol. She goes, I just have a good feeling about it. Me: Um, ok…)
