***** Official Class of 2011 RD Decisions *****

<p>If it's anything like last year, pray hard. No one was admitted off the waitlist for the class of 2010.</p>

<p>Putsch, I HIGHLY doubt that ND will not accept a lot of people off the waitlist this year. I know they didn't take anyone last year but it really does look like they were much more selective this year and I think they were pretty conservative. Only time will tell.</p>

<p>IF YOU ARE WAITLISTED: be sure to send in awards and grades and anything new which may help.</p>

<p>D ACCEPTED</p>

<p>Stats:
SAT: 2050 (2400)
GPA: 3.8
Rank: school doesn't rank
AP: Taken 5 (scored 3,4,4)
Legacy: No
Community Service: Lots
Essays/Recs: Great
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Hispanic
School: Private Catholic
Hook: Not sure if URM since hispanic enrollment is much higher (11%) than Asian/African American
Going to attend: Was a definite Yes until Wash U and Carleton gave her some serious merit money. Not sure if ND will do same.</p>

<p>Wow... Congrats to all the acceptances</p>

<p>Do the rejected and deferred... your stats were all amazing.... man, they sure look stingy this year</p>

<p>[]Stats:[ /b][ list]
[]:
[] ACT: 31
[] GPA: 3.85/3.65 unweighted
[] Rank: 42/228
[] Other stats: 5 AP AmerHist; 4 English Language; 2 year letterman varsity cross country; BSA Eagle Scout; Boys State; principal chair trombone, 2 years; jazz band; founder of a trombone quartet; numerous solo and ensemble top ratings; founder and director of pep band for girls basketball; marching band; team captain of academic challenge team; NHS.
[ /list][ b]Subjective:[ /b][ list]
[] Essays: Life with his Down syndrome little sister
[] Teacher Recs: Never saw
[] Counselor Rec: Never saw; counselor has known him since Cub Scouts
[] Hook (if any): None
[ /list][ b]Location/Person:[ /b][ list]
[] State or Country: Ohio
[] School Type: Public; suburban
[] Ethnicity: White, Irish Catholic.
[] Gender: Male
[] major strength/weakness: Strength is that he applied as a trombone performance major would have played in numerous university ensembles and would have been in the marching band. Weakness was his class ranking. While extremely talented in the arts, languages and history he struggles with advanced math (27 ACT math).
[] why you think you were rejected: Because there are so many outstanding choices for admissions to choose from that statistically he didn?t measure up. Past threads have talked about what admissions looks for and it really appears that they separate the wheat from the chaff by taking grades in top classes and rank and test scores. If you don?t make that cut and unless you have some hook you have no chance with outstanding EC?s or a top essay. He applied to three schools and this was the only reach and is not disappointed because Brady Quinn won?t be on the gridiron!! Actually because all along he knew his stats didn?t line-up. As a parent, I?m glad that he spent his entire high school days doing only those things that he enjoyed and really put his heart into them. </p>

<p>It?s sad to read some other posts on CC where the kids did all kinds of things and didn?t make it into their choice and feel like they did everything for nothing! I don?t think my son will regret anything from high school other than not putting in a few extra miles before the cross country season began.</p>

<p>Background: white Catholic male from GA; not a legacy; deferred EA</p>

<p>I live in Northwest GA and I received my decision yesterday, so for those of you that are still waiting, know that results have reached this far south. By the way, from what I've read so far it seems like everyone that had below a 33 ACT was either waitlisted or rejected, regardless of their other stats. I doubt this will hold true in all cases, but results do seem to be following a trend started in the EA pool.</p>

<p>I got it in the mail yesterday in TX. It still feels like a dream. I can't believe it. But I know some TX people wha have not heard yet.
wish everyone could get in.</p>

<p>Location/Person:
[ *] State or Country: Minnesota
[ *] School Type: Private Catholic Male Prep School
[ *] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[ *] Gender: Male
[ *] major strength/weakness:
[ *] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: Who knows? I had lots of EC's, varsity sports, volunteer positions, leadership, Nat Merit Semi, AP Scholar, and lots of others. This is the only school that rejected me!!!
[ *] going to attend? Probably Not - I didn't love ND when I visited, but I guess if I got in I would have to seriously think about it again. I'm accepted at Northwestern, Wash U, BC (Honors), BU, Cornell, Carleton
I'm going to BC - it's not in the middle of a cornfield and the academics are pretty similar, and great sports</p>

<p>But congrats to those who did get accepted in a crazy competitive pool.</p>

<p>mnwinwin11,
i got rejected too. Twas a sad day, but i'll see ya at BC!!
(I should probably change my CC name, eh?!)lol</p>

<p>wow, this is scary. if they rejected that dude, who are they accepting?</p>

<p>Accepted </p>

[*] going to attend? Most definitely...this was the happiest night of my life</p>

<p>mnwinwin11, I am really surprised by your rejections. Your stats are very strong. You were accepted though at great schools. Cornell was very tough this year especially to get into. Boston College's Honors program is very selective. Congratulations on being accepted to it and good luck.</p>

<p>WAITLISTED</p>

<p>SAT: N/A
SAT IIs: physics, math II, US history totaled about 2100 i think
ACT: 32 (33 super scored)
GPA: 3.99 unweighted 4.7 weighted
Rank: 2/650
Essays: dunno
Teacher Recs: excellent
Counselor Recs: excellent
Hook (if any): god very notable alumni to write rec letter
major strength/weakness: lots of volunteer work, captain of both varisty basketball and football team... 2nd in class--GPA that i worked my ass off for 4 years for
why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: i honestly don't know... i guess my act score wasn't high enough because i had everything else... gpa, leadership, volunteer work, etc. i am actually pretty shocked... looks like i'll be going to university of illinois (unless a miracle happens and i get pulled off the waitlist) which seems like a waste of a lot of hard work throughout the past 4 years to me but w/e maybe i can transfer--this really sucks :(</p>

<p>anybody have some stats about the waitlisting process? i know they accepted none last year off it, but i would think that since last year they ended up having too many people come maybe they would limit the amount of kids selected this year and use the wait list... hopefuly :(</p>

<p>so irish hook me up wit that transfer website lol... but the thing is, if i transfered, it would be to mendoza which i heard is impossible</p>

<p>yeah, what's the deal with transferring into Mendoza? Is it even possible?</p>

<p>Transferring to Mendoza is possible, but you have to go through a back-door (usually Arts and Letters Economics for a year and then switching) which they have talked about closing...I think you still can pull it off though. </p>

<p>Lots of transfer stuff at <a href="http://www.nd.edu/%7Emnadorff/transfer%5B/url%5D...though"&gt;www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer...though&lt;/a> the website unfortunately will only be up until I graduate unless I find another good place for it.</p>

<p>I'd be willing to use my webspace for it, irish. Anything for Notre Dame.</p>
