General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
Today I was wait listed at Wake Forest, wait listed at University of Richmond, and accepted to Boston College. I have friends that are in the exact opposite situation as me, but Boston College was my top choice from all three so I’m satisfied.

@EuphoricTyson Congrats!

S was accepted to BC and Richmond, waitlisted at Wake Forest as well… seems like all of the WF posts were waitlists. He was surprised to be accepted BC and waitlisted WF, thought would be other way around.

Just waiting on Lehigh and Vanderbilt, but BC is definitely up there. Best of luck with your decision!

I’m very sad about being waitlisted, especially when people from my school with lower stats were accepted but I have faith that I’ll go where I’m meant to and I suppose BC isn’t it. I was also waitlisted at American and UVa yesterday and accepted to Wake Forest, Smith, George Washington, and Elon

Counselor Rec: 9/10
Additional Rec: 10/10 from boss
Commonapp Essay: very strong
UR Supplement Essay: very strong as well

Other:

Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: Biology
State (if domestic applicant): TX
School Type: Small, Catholic, all girls private school
Ethnicity: hispanic
Gender: female
Income Bracket: 150,000
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Grew up in Mexico and eventually moved to the United States due to the violence. Ever since then I have been struggling to catch up to my classmates since I learned English when I was 11 years old. Dual nationality. My sister has a rare syndrome called PKS and my family has struggled both emotionally and financially.

Reflection:

Strengths: Essays, letters of rec, passion shown in essays, and cultural duality
What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself: moving countries is not very easy. How my sister has inspired me to want to become a medical doctor in order to understand more about the human body.
Weaknesses: standardized testing, all I have to say is that it’s biased.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: my ethnicity/unique upbringing, my passion for science, and all the volunteering I have done over the years
Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: University of Rochester (waiting for six other schools)
Notes: Congrats to all the other students that were accepted! It’s a great school!

@doctorcass great job congrats! BC made a great decision to accept you! Good luck!

@doctorcass , Grats, but you posted this on a 7-year-old thread. Why it is pinned is beyond me, but I expect there is a more current results thread to post your results on.
