once again I completely agree with xcjimmy1228.

One more thing, then I am gone from the BC threads, The waitlist letter was indeed the nicest of the three she received! And it did open with an apology for the delay. Very professional and courteous.

Not bad results for a college admissions season for her Regular Decision apps: 5 admits (3 with scholarship, 1 with tuition remission for 3 out of 4 years), and 3 waitlists. No rejections since Early Decision.

Good luck to all!!! Bye!

thanks for your post xcjimmy. BC is lucky to have supporters like you who love their school. Since you volunteer in admissions maybe you could help them see the effects their actions have on those who are going through the all too anxiety provoking process of applying. As we all know, the admissions game is only going to worsen for the next couple of years so BC and other colleges might want to put some thought into how best to help their applicants stay sane throughout the cycle. I understand your point that they received a record number of apps. I believe almost every school in the country was in the same position this year and I don't think it was a surprise to anyone. There's nothing BC or any other college can do to limit the number of applicants they have and frankly I don't think they want to. It is a business after all and the more business generated, the better.

But to inject some humanity into the process I propose they do one little tiny thing that wouldn't take more than a few minutes to do and wouldn't cost them a dime extra. They could simply send every applicant an email on the day they begin sending out decisions, telling the kids "Your application has been reviewed and an answer will soon come your way. However, since there are so many applicants, we will not be sending them all out immediately, some of you won't hear from us for at least two weeks. But don't despair your decision will be mailed as soon as possible. If you haven't heard from us by 4/15, then by all means call. Otherwise, rest assured it will be mailed as soon as we can."

How hard could it be to just send an email like that? It would let kids know what's going on and that their file didn't get lost behind a file cabinet somewhere never to be seen again. And compared to what other schools do to maintain that contact with their applicants, it isn't asking much. It's the little gestures of good will that sometimes can make a huge difference.

Just my two cents worth. Good luck to all who are attending BC and may your freshman year be everything you hope for.
