Other thoughts: Debating between Duke and Wake right now, oh the decisions..

Shows that you definitely don't need perfect scores to get in =] stand out!

Yeah, Forest, that's just how college admissions works. shrug I've got at least five schools ahead of Duke on my list (all of which I'll find out about this week), but, hey, if you don't end up taking the spot, perhaps you're giving someone on the wait list a shred of hope.

The thing is, you're not taking someone's spot at all. Duke sends out more acceptances than there are spots in the freshman class--they expect a lot of people to turn down the acceptance. That way, they can afford to reject or waitlist anyone they don't want to come. Because the possibility of you turning down Duke has already been factored into admissions--they won't even have to go to the waiting list (maybe a couple waitlistees but not dozens). So, your decision to go to Duke or not won't really have an effect on anyone else.

i'm international and the decision release time for me is 6.30am. which means that i have to stay up the entire night refreshing the duke page. and then rejoice/brood for 20 minutes and set off for school... almost 4 more hours left...
