Don't let your dreams get tied to an institution; let them stay with you, and you will prosper. And, to any future applicants, try to do a visit and interview with an admissions officer; they give really good advice, including how to write essays to cater to your strengths and what the school is really looking for. My interview went amazingly, and the officer happened to be a CS reader, so it probably helped some. And now I have to decide between CMU and Cornell... :P
