That's a lot of information, but what the hell... I have nothing else to do:
Decision: Accepted

Stats:Won't mention them as of yet because I'm waiting on another school

Subjective
Essays: Excellent in my humble opinion. I loved my essay about future classmate; I even used it for a speech in class.

Teacher Recs: Didn't get teacher recs; the recs at my school are hard to come by because we have college professors teaching most of our classes.

Counselor Rec: Great Rec; I had a rec from my counselor, Principal, which were amazing!

Hook (if any):If being black is a hook; count me in. I have my eagle scout too. I also submitted a resume and all three essays. One more thing; I will enter College station with my associates of science degree and 67 hours of credit from HCC (explained in school).

Location/Person
State or Country: Texas

School Type: Early College; see I take classes at HCC while I'm in high school. I was able to muster 67 credit hours and I will continue to take courses over the summer so i can start the engineering sequence a lot earlier.

Ethnicity:Black, non Hispanic

Gender: Male

Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Uhh... probably the exposure of college courses and my study habits. weaknesses; probably Spanish and standardized test amongst other things

Why you think you were accepted/deferred/denied: Accepted: because of my stellar academic record... not! (just finish watching Borat)... honestly I just think it was because of my interest in college station although many would say vision 2020 had something to do with it.

Other Factors:

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I wasnt in Top ten% (only four kids from my school)... im tired of this whole process; i want the Gates scholarship, I want a the regents, opportunity scholarship, i just, truthfully want to get out of boring high school.

premedpenguin, did a&m give you a good package for being natl merit?

jmryan316, how'd you get to work with fallout boy??

Can I ask you guys a question? Have the A&M people offered you any scholarships yet? If they gave, how much are they offering you?

Wasn't full-ride, was pretty close. Here's a link:
http://honors.tamu.edu/Scholarships/Prospective/NatMerit.aspx#guaranteed
I got pretty much what that page listed, plus the "President's Endowed" scholarship listed under "Additional Scholarship Opportunities."
They offered me a loan, too, which I don't think I'll need for this year. :-)
