**** Official Class Of 2012 EA Decisions ****

nothing in the mail in NJ today...

Sending the letters on a Thu or Fri is really a poor choice on BC's part, because it puts applicants across the country at an even bigger disadvantage than usual. New England people get their notification on Sat, everyone else has to wait till at least Monday. I still do not understand why, if they have the capability to post the decisions online, they choose not to do so. Good thing D is not terribly crazy about BC, but after getting rejected from another EA application she could use the morale boost :-) We shall see...

congrats to all acceptees, for those deferred, keep your head up, it will all work out!

Accepted!

uhh, yea....im a urm. i live in NY so i havent gotten a letter yet, and since they only deliver paper mail, I will have to wait until monday.

well, im just looking at the stats of all you perfect white kids and Im shaking in my boots because I am nowhere near you guys...in anything. I cant beleive all you with 2200s and straight A's are being defferred.

I kno that my skin color shouldnt be the thing Im relying on to get me in, but at this point thats all i have lol. (and that's a nervous lol).

shaking in my boots right now

i live in montana...waiting until monday is going to be torture. and seeing these deferred/accepted stats is making me more nervous :(

To anybody in this thread who's posted already, and to those who will post:
For what it's worth, we're all in the same boat. We're all smart kids, and we deserve to get into good schools. There are some people, like the poster above, who managed to get in with decent-but-not-awesome SAT scores, and kids, like the person who got a 2210, who got deferred. The kids who got in definitely deserved it, and those who got deferred just got unlucky for some reason, and this thread has definitely proven that it's not necessarily their stellar academics, haha. In some respects, the college process is a crapshoot- my brother learned this the hard way. When my dad was applying to grad school, he got denied to many crappy schools, and ended up going to the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. College is a weird thing, and I wish you all the best...I haven't gotten my decision letter yet, but I'm nervous as hell, haha.

To the posters who got in, does Agora look like it did before?

That's what makes me feel better...I've heard of people getting rejected to way lower level schools that end up going to Harvard.
stillll nervous!

We're in Florida and still waiting for an envelope of any size, but my cousin's daughter, in Massachusetts, got her acceptance letter on 12/13. Their last name starts with M. Ours starts with P. Both girls--second-cousins who have met only once--applied EA and have an interest in communications. I don't know the stats on my cousin's daughter, but mine has the following stats:

SAT: CR 690, Math 700, Writing 750
SAT-II's: History 620, Bio 650, Spanish 620, Math 690
GPA: UW 3.53 (college prep HS, has completed 5 AP classes, currently in 4; this school doesn't have non-academic electives, so the whole thing has been rigor, rigor, rigor since Grade 7)
Evals: great from the one we saw, assuming great from the one we didn't; her theater director supposedly also sent one out, and she writes amazing ones
ECs: 7 years in community theater, lots of honor society-type things, no leadership, tons of volunteer hours, an obvious passion for the arts
Essay: Strong but short; she chose her own topic and wrote about how essential art is to her life
Hook: "That artsy kid from Florida"?
Tension level in our house: Palpable, excruciating, indescribable

i agree...why not just use agora to tell us?
now we have to wait sunday and pray for monday :-</p>

No BC mail in OR today

Congrats to those who are accepted; do not fret if you were deferred...my D1 got deferred, waitlisted and rejected by end of June, a long wait...went to Conn and then tried to transfer to BC...waitlisted...sent a note saying she was no longer interested in BC...and what do you know, she got accepted...is now in the middle of exams, LOVES it, lives on lower campus, goes to all the games...and even loves Theology!!!

9 of her classmates applied to BC...5 accepted, 4 attend...the letters came with no rhyme or reason, she was the last to hear by weeks and her name begins with H...

Her 2 best friends lives 60 miles south of BC, did not hear today...applied early, both NMS, almost perfect SAT...

You will all notice on these posted stats that it may be easier for males to get accepted..

D2 is now anxiously awaiting Trinity ED, no word today...
