When the Board of Admissions reviews applications, we give special attention to applicants whose families have a tradition of study at Boston University. We have extended this consideration in the evaluation of your application, but I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission. An unfavorable decision is never easily reached, and it is particularly difficult because of your family's association with the University.

This year Boston University received more than 38,000 applications for approximately 4,200 seats in our incoming class. This was a highly competitive applicant pool and unfortunately many very qualified students like you are receiving disappointing news. Please know that we recognize your strong commitment to your studies as well as the tremendous amount of time and effort that went into the preparation of your application.

You may wish to consider the possibility of transferring to Boston University after one or two years of strong work at another college or university. Favorable completion of challenging coursework would help us evaluate your potential for success in a degree program at Boston University.

Thank you for applying to Boston University. We wish you the best of luck in your future academic endeavors.

Sincerely,

Kelly A. Walter

rodney - yeah my parents filed the fafsa and the css thing. i guess they just figured my family could pay for it ... the 10,000 helps A LOT, but its still not going to be EASY by any stretch to pay for it. everyone says they got really good grants, when I go to the open house i have an appointment with the FA people. does anyone know if there is a way to get any more aid from them? I'm going regardless I'll just feel better if my parents aren't stuck paying sooo much.
