My D received her waitlist letter today also.

Waitlisted

I think it's because my ECs and my interests makes it seem like I applied only because of the free app, which would have been an adequate and true conclusion.

Congrats to everyone who got in.

Accepted
1450 sat (2070/2400)
96gpa

hard classes taken
good ec's

o man this years been real rough.

waitlisted
1510 SAT (2250/2400)
Top 1% (4/410)
4.81 GPA
Tons of Ec's...

I really don't know what to say, our school has something called naviance where u can check past acceptance/rejections from your specific high school to any college. My stats are better than the best person to EVER be ACCEPTED from our school. Oh well... :(

Getting waitlisted isn't the end . . .if you think W&L is the right school for you, don't give up. There are plenty of strategies you can find on these forums for getting off the waitlist - if you really want to go to W&L, use them, you never know.

if you look at the earlier stats i posted you should realize that six thousand kids plus applied. Huge increase. Huge competition. RD is incredibly difficult this year. I think i calculated it out at roughly 17% or 13% percent.
It isn't you, it's your age and the baby boom.
As Dima said, go for it if its your school. what can you contribute? how can you make a difference. think in terms of a marketing campaign and you are the product (unfortunately the competition makes you having to view yourself this way).

accepted!

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: This is D's 3rd waitlist from a school we believed to be a match. Not sure the sorority life was for her anyway, and Lexington is kind of in the middle of nowhere, so not too heartbreaking....

ACCEPTED!

Compared to some of the stats that got waitlisted, I'm not really sure.
BUT: Strong EC's (w/ leadership, recognition and such). Took the hardest possible set of courses my school offered, including the first person to take all five AP's (Studio Art and English Literature this year). I also visited twice and had an alumni interview.

Congrats to everyone that got in and double congrats to those who got money! I'm sure everyone on this thread gets in somewhere amazing and perfect for them!
