[] GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.6 W
[] Rank: 3 / 430
[] Other stats: 10 AP
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: One great on personal development, other on strong passion for engineering
[] Teacher Recs: Didn’t read, but I know they are wonderful
[] Counselor Rec: Didn’t read but counselor loves me
[] Hook (if any): Spent 6 weeks doing graduate-level research at Boston University

[] Gender: Male
[/ul]Other Factors:[list]
[] Extracurriculars: Robotics Club [big time commitment] – lead programmer and mentor, Leadership club, Science/Academic Bowl, Computer Club - president, Science National Honor Society – president, tutored struggling students after school, academic letter, robotics letter
[] Why I think I was accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Weak EC’s
[*] Other thoughts: Despite my somewhat weak EC’s, I thought I had this one in the bag. Oh well, congrats to all who were accepted!

i hope they feel guilty for making all the 7pm ppl like wait this much. i really hope they feel guilty. that coupled with their bad servers..gg

yep...rejection...

Decision: Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 2270
[] SAT IIs: 2200
[] ACT:
[] GPA: 3.800
[] Rank: 14/721 (2 percent)
[] Other stats:
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Very romantic, earnest, and very "me". I suppose the success of my essays is entirely contingent on whether or not a school likes "me" because I definitely tried to present my essence. Didn't write the "Why Duke".
[] Teacher Recs: Mediocre
[] Counselor Rec: Surprisingly good. Thought it was generic until I read it.
[] Hook (if any): URM, Gymnastics
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: California
[] School Type: Large Public. 3,000 students.
[] Ethnicity: Mexican/Italian
[] Gender: Male
[/ul]Other Factors:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars: Accomplished Male Gymnast (lots of significant titles) for 12 years; Senior Class President, Ecology Club President....and nothing else. I guess I covered the bases for sport, community service, and leadership.
[] Why I think I was accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Scores + URM status + Gymnastics (unusual) + Senior President is mildly prestigious I suppose. And if my essay "clicked" with the adcoms that helped.
[*] Other thoughts: Duke is amazing, I would love to become a Blue Devil. I'm visiting next week, so I guess we'll see. Officially my #2 choice.[/ul]

rejected ;) yippe

Rejected, oh well. Not my top choice anyway.

Waitlist....

Check my chances thread if you're really interested...

glad duke is my 2nd choice school.

I got wait listed.

32 ACT
4.0 GPA
lots of EC's, volunteer hours, work, etc. etc.

Rejected. International asking for aid. I guess that's the reason. At least that means I need to visit one place less :) Congrats to everyone who made it, good luck to everyone who didn't.
