[li]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Well, I have to say that holistic admissions can be frustrating. After applying it’s not like one can say "Well, this is what I did wrong, and I need to work on XYZ. But nonetheless, I never won any major awards, nor did I start applying myself academically until mid-way through my junior year - and my class rank reflects that.
[/li]

Nonetheless, I have to say that I’m pretty disappointed to get rejected by all of “target/reach” schools, since I felt like I had some redeeming qualities from the get-go that would get me in to some competitive school.

When I get down about it, I just try to remember that there are students out there who have been working their entire lives in academics to get to this point - and find an accepted letter. I’ve only been really taking the hardest classes possible my Junior and Senior years, so I have no one to blame but myself[/ul]

Good luck to everyone who’s going to Johns Hopkins next year.

Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging? - I think my essays got me in, really, because none of my other stats really stand out

my bad, does it just mean you’re waitlisted for all applicants to JHU?? im pretty sure that people who psted stats would have gotten in if what program they applied to was irrelevant to thier admissions decision…but i could be wrong.

you can find median SATs on collegeboard.com when you send scores to JHU.

Well, when I applied to competitive schools (including Hopkins), I knew that my rank was very low (top 20%), especially for a non-competitive school, but looking at these chances threads it seems to be one of the top factors. I also was hoping on the upward trend, but, nah. That makes sense though since all the accepted applicants didn’t need an upward trend - they were amazing from the get-go.
