what?

this is a question of curiosity but how does CMU consider weighted GPAs. The last 2 acceptance stats have people who posted weighted GPAs but how does that work out?

Hello byuan09.

I am going to be shot for this.

I had way worse scores than that and got into ECE last year, so dont take the **** out on someone else.

My SATII scores: Physics: 550, MathI: 590, MathII: 520, Literature: 530
SatI: Reading: 640, Math: 620, Writing: 590

All scores were sent to CMU.

Let’s see, 3 brand new posters (#39,40,43) with the same join date, all saying insulting things to byuan. Sounds like somebody who knows him and is so jealous, that they created 3 separate accounts pretending to be different people. Sorry you didn’t get accepted, you are obviously upset.

hahaa…I’m pretty sure a couple of people were doing that with their decisions too- saying they were accepted

Whoever is crazy enough to do that needs psychological help.

Anyway, I hope you kids enjoy CMU. Choose mudge as your dorm room. Its the best one and they always win house wars.

On the app, it lets you pick a few colleges to apply to. Does anyone know if they are okay about applying to several, as long as you have a commonality between your choice?

call up and find out for us, if no one does noe
thanxs

collegesgirl, apply for as many colleges as you can write about (up to 5). It doesn’t hurt to apply to several, each one considers you differently and gives you one more chance. But you need sure and write about each college you apply to on the supplement, that is what they look at. You may get accepted by some choices and denied by others, all you need is to get accepted by one. Don’t need commonality, just need to have a reason and maybe a major in the department you can write about and explain interest.

What about Boss, New House, Moorewood E???

“this is a question of curiosity but how does CMU consider weighted GPAs. The last 2 acceptance stats have people who posted weighted GPAs but how does that work out?”

The weighted GPA I posted was just my schools. CMU calculates your GPA by only looking at core classes and finding the average of your 10th and 11th grade GPA. CMU does not look at your 9th grade GPA and electives.

steelers, my son chose Stever because it was new and had air conditioning. In retrospect, he said he would have DEFINITELY chosen Mudge if he a chance to do it again. New and air conditioning doesn’t really matter (since you’re not there in the summer), and the rooms are small in Stever. Mudge has very large rooms and is extremely nice…he spends alot of time there. It is coed, so that is good. The lucky thing for you is that dorm preferences are given based upon when they receive your deposit. So ED applicants get first pick.

Choose the mudge quads. It’ll guarantee the A tower, and the rooms are HUGE. Don’t choose the quiet floor. Also, you wont get a single unless you have some special circumstances, so don’t bother…

A Tower Quads > A2 > A3 > B Basement > Other B Floors > C1 > Cbase/C2 > C3/Quiet Floor

I agree with the New House/Stever statement above. Morewood-E has a layout that I feel to be confusing. I didnt like it, even though i had it as my second choice.

Mudge > Donner > Everything Else > Single-Sex Dorms > Hammerschlag > Scobell

Only mudge and donner have in-house tutoring(You’ll need it.).

Donner is good because it has in-house printing, big rooms and its close to everything. Its kind of an eye sore though.

Then Mudge A tower it is!!!

can someone tell me more about SHS ( science and humanities honor program )? like what are the benefits ?

Wait, how do we let CMU know or dorm preferences? Or is it too soon

When do ED accepted applicants make their dorm preferences?
