General Comments:

So, I got accepted a while ago, but never posted until now. Today I just received scholarship info in the mail. I got Full Tuition! Plus 1k per semester. I wasn’t going to post stats, but I figured it might be helpful to some people. My mom wants me to apply for Chancellor’s, but I really don’t want to considering Pitt is my safety and chances are I won’t get it.

I might see some of you in Fall 2010.

I visited Pitt in 07 and then again last November for the World of Possiblities Program and got accepted that day. I literally cried because this is where I want to go soooo badly.

I havent received any merit from here but surprisingly I got a full ride at a higher ranked school. I guess the applicant pool at Pitt was crazy this year.

But congrats guys, especially those of you with a full ride.!

Kmtt, if you don’t mind me asking, about how long ago did you get accepted? I’ve been reading around this forum to try and get an idea of the time frame it takes for scholarship information to arrive, but it hasn’t seemed very consistent. Many have indicated it took months; others, weeks. About how long was it for you?

Congrats IBSenior, on the scholarship and both acceptances. (Congrats Kmtt, too, of course!)

I received my acceptance letter on Dec 15, and I got scholarship info yesterday, so it took about a month for me.

I got my scholarship info yesterday (Full Tuition+ 2k semester engineering), but no Honors College information yet…

Thanks for the answer, kmtt! And congrats again, that’s a great scholarship.

Congrats to you, too, nk! Good luck on the Honors College situation.

I’d be surprised that someone got full tuition but not Honors College. UHC is way easier to get than a full tuition scholarship.

The letters all seem to come at different times, in no predictable order.

General Comments: In the words of my best friend upon her first college acceptance, "Son of a [dog] mother[lover] I am going to college!

May be my new favorite quote

Teacher Recs: Average at least
Counselor Rec: superb (so she says)

General Comments: 10k a year

Update on post #370 - I got my scholarship letter (full tuition) today. Oh happy day… I’m going to have to third that comment up there. ^^

I’m also not sure about applying for Chancellor’s… for basically the same reasons kmtt mentioned. I think I’ll just see what happens with need-based aid (and other schools) in April.
…Woo! College! It’s nice to have some of that weight off my back. :)

S. got the full ride and invite to apply to med program before Xmas. He just got the Honors College invite and March 26 invite last week. Everything comes in different envelopes at different times. Congratulations.

congratulations to everyone!
thanks for the info dcmom… im going to wait for the mail daily! honors college would be nice… (they did give me the honors college fee waiver)

D admitted 11/9. Admitted UHC, too. First SATs M710/R680. Second SATs taken Oct. M700/R700. Top 3 percent in HS in NJ. Outstanding ECs, probably outstanding recs. All AP in senior year. Likely science major. Not a peep regarding scholarship. Visited campus and told by an admissions officet she should get merit money but that decision could come as late as Feb.
Some q’s:
Could it be that she’ll be shut out on merit aid?
Should we formally contact someone now?
Who would that be?

JustBob - email OAFA and ask them. Can;t hurt. We did that and heard a week later, coincidence? Maybe but who knows. If nothing else it shows interest.

We emailed & our email was completely ignored. That is a sign, as far as we are concerned. We’ll concentrate on the schools that communicate.

kelsmom - I emailed and had an email reply the next day. Received my letter a week later.

Today I emailed a department head and heard back from him within hours.
